Not my topic area so I have no empirical commentary to offer
Suffice to say though that corporations serve the god of capital not human interest.
If they gain the potential to gather detailed information about us there is a huge amount of naieve trust involved in allowing them to have this power should they decide to exploit it in ways we cannot yet imagine.
Everything that is good has a dark side - often in direct proportion to the benefits
If rules can be bent, they will be
