Techno lives still, and it took some girlies to show us all. Man that session by Vanya (not sure at all but thats my guess) at Fu on Sat nite was fokken awesome. It was techno and yet two-step was weavin its way in! and some wikked soundscapes around the drivin beats. And in the Bar there was lots of downbeats and hip-hop stuff which people were gettin into bigtime as well.
So yeh thx Fu for another great nite where the music mattered most!

there is another girls love bass this saturday.
both vanja and hallogen girl (emma g) are playing in the big room at FU. should be at least 4hrs of techno.

I got back from Welli and D.A.V.E the drummer on Sat night and went pretty much strait to FU. Every spectrum of techno and both nights were each fucken wicked in their own ways. woo hoo tekno cranks in nz for once

A few of my crew that headed along have been hardhouse heads for a while...and I think we are managing (with the help from the lovely ladies at FU!) to convert them to proper sounds like!

i spent the last month in Europe checking out wotever techno I could over there. Went to the love parade too heheh It was good and altho commercial in its approach the music was pretty OK
Tresor was the hardest club I ever been to! Man I can last with the best of them on the dancefloor but geeezus after 20 minutes in the bunker at Tresor I was fokked! Saw Marco Carola there ... sweet... but some other dudes set got ruined coz his technoboxes couldn't stand the humidity. Dunno why he didnt go back to the dex, they was workin fine!
And I saw another Marco in Prague - this time Marco Lenzi at the Roxy. That really kicked ass with good support by some local techno girlies... one of them was called La Di Da

The bunker is soooooo fat. Hows cool is the German dancing style man. Especially at Tresor. Their like little psycho bouncin rabbits. I heard Roxy was Pragues biggest/best club. Your pretty lucky seeing Marco Lenzi play, i'd fucken love it if guys like that came here. Bet it wasn't too cold either...

is this a joke? i've been to many events involving Halogen Girl over the past several years, and have to say that at last years Sound of Techno she blew everyone's sets out of the water. she was wicked.
I've been to parties in US/Europe and can say that she is one of the few locals has real inspiration.

Halogen Girl is one of the true pioneers of techno in Australasia, one of the very few people responsible for pushing and keeping the myriad sounds of techno alive and kicking. Her ability to rock a floor in this difficult (+lazy) country is amazing and she has a true gift for mixing tracks in a way that would have Sven and Mr. Hell drooling. I don't think that one ignorant person’s jibe is warranted here and I'm sure I can speak for the whole scene to say that this is exactly the type of behavior that has harmed techno in this country. Get a life stargirl and stop falling prey to tall poppy syndrome.

If anyone has anything critical to say, first - do something. Anything; play out, promote, release music, start a label, website, store, club!!! Don't just hassle others if they're not your cup of tea. Auckland is a small place, and techno is a large genre, so of course not everyone is going to be catered for all the time. If you can do something better than others, then say so in a positive way. Techno is by far the hardest thing to push on this atoll, and everyone who is doing something positive should be met with open arms, not fear and jealousy. And just because there's a good looking female dj out there doesn't automatically make them crap, or unfriendly. We are now in the lucky position to have 2 wicked (good looking) female techno djs - but please for everyone's sake, just because they're not blokes, treat them with the same respect as you would any other dj. Techno was built on trying to break down barriers.

no no no, i didnt mean emma was from howick, i have much respect for her various talents, i ment that dope head 'stargirl'- she's the one from howick. i was backing up emma with my remark but looking at it now i can see how it could have gone both ways.
i agree with you stevX, she's got insparation and it comes across in her styles.
- yes crucial, it is those sort off lame lazy comments that seem to snowball in the nieve mainstream circles, the bane of techno.
big ups to the techno girls, we are lucky to have them in our city.

yeah same deal as befor. emma and vanja on the techno tip, yeah, with some nobodys befor and after. its always a scramble to the door after the techno girls finish, i cant handle that cold slap in the face going from techno to some hardcore d&b etc.

well actually....... i kinda liked felicitys set - after Emma who was (as always for me) a little too low-key, altho better than usual I thought. Felicity played kinda hip-hop (hey slap me if I'm wrong its not my specialty) but it was pretty pumped up stuff and I got into it for quite a while.
Only saw the last few tracks of Vanja-dammed shame -she was kickin ass!

i didnt stick around that long but that sounds more fitting after techno then the d&b.

Felicity prob. 2step? A little more inline with techno methinks, tho once again completely forgot (sorry)... no excuse eh?

Camille has only spinned for nearly one year, as i said, she did have a good selection on music, and i think she might be nervous last night... she told me that when last weekend at centro for derrick cater's new album release, that was her first time she have played the main time for a big event...she was really apprehensive too.. so i guess that was understandable.

i would expect any house dj to stuggle mixing out of a hard techno number.
( -was that a leather or synthetic cheese cutter...)
you gota take the bad with the good, if you put yourself out there then you must welcome critisism as much as praise.

I would say that only a few local house jocks have actually listened to techno, let alone tried to mix with it at some stage... probably worth it as most of the big house jocks are all versitile enough to mix it up with techno (sneak, carter, knuckles, tenaglia. etc)... JUST the same way as the main techno jocks can work with the house
Most house djs here don't play next to techno djs, so would be hard pressed to do anything with that - tho if she'd cut into it and done something cool, that would have been nice. Only playing for a year tho, I'm sure it would have been a pretty major thing to come on after a techno set!! Brave her for doing it tho, even if she didn't know how to maximise the situation. Imagine most techno jocks here trying to keep a house floor or a d&b floor
