Techno lives still, and it took some girlies to show us all. Man that session by Vanya (not sure at all but thats my guess) at Fu on Sat nite was fokken awesome. It was techno and yet two-step was weavin its way in! and some wikked soundscapes around the drivin beats. And in the Bar there was lots of downbeats and hip-hop stuff which people were gettin into bigtime as well.
So yeh thx Fu for another great nite where the music mattered most!
[quote]
there is another girls love bass this saturday.
both vanja and hallogen girl (emma g) are playing in the big room at FU. should be at least 4hrs of techno.
get in there jamecs cos v was playing lots of that tribal funky techno you've been wanting to check out.
[quote]
I got back from Welli and D.A.V.E the drummer on Sat night and went pretty much strait to FU. Every spectrum of techno and both nights were each fucken wicked in their own ways. woo hoo tekno cranks in nz for once
[quote]
I agree 100%!

A few of my crew that headed along have been hardhouse heads for a while...and I think we are managing (with the help from the lovely ladies at FU!) to convert them to proper sounds like!
[quote]
i spent the last month in Europe checking out wotever techno I could over there. Went to the love parade too heheh It was good and altho commercial in its approach the music was pretty OK
Tresor was the hardest club I ever been to! Man I can last with the best of them on the dancefloor but geeezus after 20 minutes in the bunker at Tresor I was fokked! Saw Marco Carola there ... sweet... but some other dudes set got ruined coz his technoboxes couldn't stand the humidity. Dunno why he didnt go back to the dex, they was workin fine!
And I saw another Marco in Prague - this time Marco Lenzi at the Roxy. That really kicked ass with good support by some local techno girlies... one of them was called La Di Da
[quote]
The bunker is soooooo fat. Hows cool is the German dancing style man. Especially at Tresor. Their like little psycho bouncin rabbits. I heard Roxy was Pragues biggest/best club. Your pretty lucky seeing Marco Lenzi play, i'd fucken love it if guys like that came here. Bet it wasn't too cold either...
[quote]
thanks www... i was actually there at the last one, and was pretty much the only one dancing ;]
does v have dark hair?
ill be there fo shure....
oh shite.. was it on last week?
[quote]
yeah it was last weekend. there will be more of those. go to galitos next week for hardsoul insted, it'll be cool.
v played just befor the hard d&b at the last one. good hard, tribal funk.
[quote]
BRING ON HARDSOUL! LOL
[quote]
yeah thanks anyway bro.... im just checking out mr samuel l session... nice advice, ill let you know what i think of the others...
i love that overdrive techno snare ;]
[quote]
more girls loving bass this saturday at fu.
[quote]
WAS THERE A WIKKID SMATTERING OF TEKNO LIKE LAST TIME....?????????????????????
[quote]
so has halogen girl learnt to mix now?

great! bout time i reckon.
[quote]
it's true that last year i probably neglected djing a little because i was getting myself a higher education, learning 3 languages, curating art shows, writing articles, travelling, working, as well as starting to write songs.

I don't really feel I should need to defend myself at this point, but i'm interested: who are you Stargirl and what do you do with your life?
[quote]
she's a nobody from howick.
[quote]
is this a joke? i've been to many events involving Halogen Girl over the past several years, and have to say that at last years Sound of Techno she blew everyone's sets out of the water. Smile she was wicked.
I've been to parties in US/Europe and can say that she is one of the few locals has real inspiration.

just checked her profile up on Obscure, she aint from Howick and she sho aint a nobody, just ask Fumiya Tanaka Smile
http://obscure.co.nz/profiles/halogen_girl
[quote]
Halogen Girl is one of the true pioneers of techno in Australasia, one of the very few people responsible for pushing and keeping the myriad sounds of techno alive and kicking. Her ability to rock a floor in this difficult (+lazy) country is amazing and she has a true gift for mixing tracks in a way that would have Sven and Mr. Hell drooling. I don't think that one ignorant person’s jibe is warranted here and I'm sure I can speak for the whole scene to say that this is exactly the type of behavior that has harmed techno in this country. Get a life stargirl and stop falling prey to tall poppy syndrome.
[quote]
If anyone has anything critical to say, first - do something. Anything; play out, promote, release music, start a label, website, store, club!!! Don't just hassle others if they're not your cup of tea. Auckland is a small place, and techno is a large genre, so of course not everyone is going to be catered for all the time. If you can do something better than others, then say so in a positive way. Techno is by far the hardest thing to push on this atoll, and everyone who is doing something positive should be met with open arms, not fear and jealousy. And just because there's a good looking female dj out there doesn't automatically make them crap, or unfriendly. We are now in the lucky position to have 2 wicked (good looking) female techno djs - but please for everyone's sake, just because they're not blokes, treat them with the same respect as you would any other dj. Techno was built on trying to break down barriers.
[quote]
no no no, i didnt mean emma was from howick, i have much respect for her various talents, i ment that dope head 'stargirl'- she's the one from howick. i was backing up emma with my remark but looking at it now i can see how it could have gone both ways.
i agree with you stevX, she's got insparation and it comes across in her styles.
- yes crucial, it is those sort off lame lazy comments that seem to snowball in the nieve mainstream circles, the bane of techno.
big ups to the techno girls, we are lucky to have them in our city.
[quote]
obviously, 'stargirl' you have not bothered to support any recent techno parties>>>otherwise you would have seen Halogen Girl totally rock the dance floor...?!
[quote]
oop Wink reading you WWW.

Crucial speaks wise words.
anybody can be an armchair critic, but are you willing to step in the ring? or just sit back with your sourcream and chives in your tiny tiny world.

I forgot to say that Vanya is a very classy and dynamic dj also.
Thanks to the people providing the platforms of Girls Love Bass and Hardsoul, AK is a great place to be rightaboutnow.
[quote]
ill second vanya's classy act ;]

[quote]
oops sorry lat time i heard her play she wasnt that great. thats just my opinion. it was about 3 years ago tho so maybe shes improved???

who are YOU www? a stalker or what? how do u know where i live! dope head? WTF????

haha random.

p.s everyone is entitled to their opinion!
[quote]
although i do apoligise for the way that first post came across- sorry was in a bad mood. didnt mean to sound snarky! but i do stand by my above post Very Happy
[quote]
So, by one set - you can judge someone, but others aren't allowed to judge you back for one negative post???

To see where you are, click people's names, get their profile. Since you have posted over 2500 times(!!!), I'd have assumed you would know that by now? Wink

Sorry HGirl was in a bad mood that night too so that makes it ok...
You should check me in a bad mood, for that matter everyone when they're in a bad mood.
[quote]
nah it was a couple of times- and on george too. nevermind i was just being negative Smile

crucial = matt or miles?
[quote]
it's strange, I've known quite a few nasty people who grew up in Howick, the schooling must leave something to be desired huh.

you should probably drop the topic right about now my freind. We still don't have any reason to take your opinion as qualified..
[quote]
WTF???? i didnt realise that if u said something ppl didnt agree with in this forum you got threatened?

im not saying im right- just stating my opinion.if i had of known the techno forum was also the halogen girl fan club i wouldnt have said anything.

geez arent ppl allowed an opinion? like i said it was ages ago maybe she got better Smile

and seeing as im just a dopehead from howick why do u even care what i think stevX???

u are complaining cos u think im being judgemental but u hassle the place where i was born and use that as a reason to think im wrong???

stevX and www are HYPOCRITES!!

[quote]
offcourse you are allowed your own opinion stargirl, its just that having admitted yourself that its years ago you heard her play, obviously your opinion is outdated and that is why you are drawing flak. get your facts straight if its your facts you wish to stand by.
i dont think stevx was threatening you, its just obvious you didnt know what you were talking about, hence why we have no reason to take you seriously.
- in other words: stop digging yourself deaper into a hole.

do you know what a hypocrite is?
[quote]
actualy, maybe stevx ment, 'your opinion wasnt qualified' because you are a dopehead. ? .
you said it yourself, but r u a dopehead? because if you were then that may explain your paranoia.
he didnt threaten u and nor is www a stalker..
[quote]
nah bro, actualy i am a stalker, i did'nt know you could find out where ppl are by clicking on thier names.
so her paranoia is just, although that could also be due to the dope..
[quote]
another sign of psycho stalking - when yer PC re 'peat's it self heheheh
[quote]
im not a dopehead Smile
[quote]
Ok - let's all shake hands now in good faith and let this matter drop OK??
[quote]
I think we've all learned something important today.

Hopefully it was not to slag Howick off, cause I live there! Actually slag howick, but not me,. cheers Smile
[quote]
sweet as. i was just rolling with the gag. no pun intended stargirl, all for giggles.
[quote]
nice show last nite crucial & electriss...
[quote]

[quote]

Wink

Come by the store early next week for a cd.

Watch out for Hardsoul CD soon...
md
[quote]
"Born to be blue", the new SLS (9). I have a copy for sale here, let me know.
Sorry, it was a white - actually that's the EP title, not the track as I don't know it which is why I couldn't picture it...
matt
[quote]
YAY! Very Happy

thats the standout track on the cd Very Happy
[quote]
looks like this (gurlz love bass) is on again next weekend (Oct 5th) yeh!
[quote]
yeah same deal as befor. emma and vanja on the techno tip, yeah, with some nobodys befor and after. its always a scramble to the door after the techno girls finish, i cant handle that cold slap in the face going from techno to some hardcore d&b etc.
[quote]
well actually....... i kinda liked felicitys set - after Emma who was (as always for me) a little too low-key, altho better than usual I thought. Felicity played kinda hip-hop (hey slap me if I'm wrong its not my specialty) but it was pretty pumped up stuff and I got into it for quite a while.
Only saw the last few tracks of Vanja-dammed shame -she was kickin ass!
[quote]
i didnt stick around that long but that sounds more fitting after techno then the d&b.
[quote]
Felicity prob. 2step? A little more inline with techno methinks, tho once again completely forgot (sorry)... no excuse eh?
Heard all good things.
[quote]
come check it out FRIDAY 8th NOVEMBER...

Fu Bar will host a range of sounds from 2step, house & techno!!
DJs
ANGE, CAMILLE, FELICITY AND VANJA

TECHNO is guaranteed from 12-2 by yours truely, (hate to post own gig, but what the fu_k huh?)
[quote]
Yeah, I think the idea this time was to have a
more natural progression through the bpms at
this one, note there is no hip hop this time.....
[quote]
sounds superb Wink
[quote]
wow Camille - hot baby! i wanna see her again!!!!
and Vanja!!!!
[quote]
no shame in premoting yourself vanja.
im there...
[quote]
hehe... RazzP yeah vanja everyone's doing that here
[quote]
yeh
consider moderate self-promotion as the the healthy free flow flow of information! :+)
Now i KNOW that I must be at Fu between 12 and 2

[quote]
exam Sad next time then...
[quote]
nice set vanja...
-shame about fu's last minute time slot reshuffle, it happens i guess. seeings as you got the punters on floor dancing its a shame you didnt get a longer time slot. hope this was noted by fu for next time, although looking back at the GLB history it should already have been.
(the techno curse lives on...)
i liked the nice hard track you left camile to mix out of, although, and not suprisingly, she was not fit to take on the challange.
has anyone seen robby williams 'rock dj' video? i think camile has, many many times.... a shift in focus from how you look to how you play might nead considering here camile.
am i being to harsh? probebly. do i care? i would'nt mention it if i did'nt.
all in all a good night, thanx fu.

[quote]
Camille has only spinned for nearly one year, as i said, she did have a good selection on music, and i think she might be nervous last night... she told me that when last weekend at centro for derrick cater's new album release, that was her first time she have played the main time for a big event...she was really apprehensive too.. so i guess that was understandable.
[quote]
i would expect any house dj to stuggle mixing out of a hard techno number.
( -was that a leather or synthetic cheese cutter...)
you gota take the bad with the good, if you put yourself out there then you must welcome critisism as much as praise.
[quote]
I would say that only a few local house jocks have actually listened to techno, let alone tried to mix with it at some stage... probably worth it as most of the big house jocks are all versitile enough to mix it up with techno (sneak, carter, knuckles, tenaglia. etc)... JUST the same way as the main techno jocks can work with the house Smile
Most house djs here don't play next to techno djs, so would be hard pressed to do anything with that - tho if she'd cut into it and done something cool, that would have been nice. Only playing for a year tho, I'm sure it would have been a pretty major thing to come on after a techno set!! Brave her for doing it tho, even if she didn't know how to maximise the situation. Imagine most techno jocks here trying to keep a house floor or a d&b floor Smile
[quote]
are you trying to get down her pants or something.
good luck.
[quote]
fair enough.
[quote]
Hey www, ever heard of an emotion called empathy?

Matt's points were all, as usual, on the money - why disparage him for that?

[quote]
yeah i understand totally that emotion. and i agree with your point.
ever heard of humour?
its good for giggles.
besides she quite a hot looking woman, i woulnt blame him if he were.
[quote]
she's MINE.
[quote]
Er, not even sure who she is actually...
[quote]
pantaloons actually..heh heh heh!!!!
[quote]
Hey dubbya - camille works at central station if ya keen to hook up
Wink
[quote]
thanks for the tip snitch but ive already got myself into enough trouble for one year.
[quote]
do i have to repeat myself again?
[quote]
Oooh, you're a feisty li'l filly free...
[quote]
no no no ...

[quote]
i saw Camille today at Vodafone on queen st Wink *yay*
[quote]
i saw a man with a yellow hat.
[quote]

[quote]
