So I downloaded a whole bunch of old lucas arts games recently, but having issues getting some to work.

Initiially couldn't play any, but then I got a DOS Emulator which sorted out most. Still two kinds of problems remain for some though:

a) Program not compatible in Win7 x64, but also can't be run in DOS mode so emulator won't help. Have tried the backward compatibility troubleshooter in Win7, does nothing.

b) Program requires disc to be in for it to load. Which is fine normally cause I can mount the download file as a virtual cd-rom and fool it... Except running it through DOSBox means it doesn't recognise the mount for some reason, even if I re-mount it to a drive in DOSBox.

Any ideas for either situation? :/

Really want to avoid having to dual boot 32x just to play them (and not even sure if they'd work even then).

try an old win95 through VMWarePlayer, you can mount an iso into the vm from the player too. Given the low level requirements youll probably have no issue with graphics.

If you have the pro/ ultimate win7 you can use xp virtualisation if it would play in XP.

Or even a virtual machine running DOS.

Every single person I know that has wanted to seriously play these older games found it much easier to just buy an old computer and slapping Win 98 on it. These sorta machines go for fifty bucks tops. Hell if you were still in NZ I've got a pile of them you could just have.
