So I have made the decision to become an accountant, I am hopefully going to start studying next year mid semester - depending on my schedule. I am looking @ the open uni...

My problem is this, I only have a years experience in Accounts Payable/Receivable roles and am struggling to get interviews for these, or any roles in my chosen field. Most people say "yeah you'd be great but we need someone with more experience". I have listed with several recruiters who are specialised in the area of finance/accounting.

My other option is to go back into customer services - I would rather sell my soul to the devil.

Wondering if anyone has any tips to make me more appealing to potential employers (no short skirt/bj suggestions thanks! haha). Maybe other roles I could consider!? Smile

The job market is also incredibly tough, no one is keen to hire this close to the end of the financial year.

Yey unemployment.

What experience do you have .. administration?

Personally I think if you are studying you won't want a busy role that tires you out... I think you should go for a receptionist role and once you get into studying you can start applying for maybe a Accts role. Receptionist roles pay well for what it is...

That's just what I think, when I was cruising it working in the entertainment industry studying was awesome.. moving into a full on role it was horrible trying to study... and raise a kid too.

good luck
