For all those that want to come from outside of Welli for New Zealands official cd release party for Anthony Pappa's new album 'Moments" at Sandwiches.

Casio Circus is back with the 7th installment of dirty, underground house that you have come to know and love. With past parties featuring talented internationals such as Phil K, Jamie Stevens, Dj Dixon, Dj T and Ralph Lawson, Casio Circus is firmly cementing itself as the party to be at. This time round we proudly bring you the master of experimental sounds, Anthony Pappa.

Growing up in Melbourne, Pappa bagan his music career playing drums. By age 13 he was ordering vinyl in from the UK and teaching himself how to mix. 15 saw him securing a residency at a 4,000 capacity Melbourne club. 2 years later he was Australia’s DMC champion. By 1994 he had entered, and won, a competition which saw him heading to London to play at Ministry of Sound. All this in the space of only a few years.

Pappa's forward thinking has seen him continuously reaching levels that are mostly unobtainable for the average Joe. His music has always been more elegant and experimental, stepping up with the likes of Craig Richards and Lee Burridge in Global Undergrounds Nu-Breed series.

Last month saw the release of Moments, a 3-CD mix album which gives Pappa the space and the scope to really dig into all four corners of his record box. His ability to continuously bring something unexpected and fresh has kept him at the top for 10 years plus. Sahsa and Digweed were the purveyors of all things new in their time, Pappa is the next step up, and he will blow your mind.

Coming out of retirement for the evening, Stoffa plays his first Sandwiches set alongside Circus stalwart Wade, and Bryce steps up to bring his style of beats that are always a step ahead of most. As usual our loungebar fiends will have the room hopping, and there will always be something new to check out at Casio Circus.

Sweet! May have to make the trip down for this. No chance of an Auckland gig anyone?

Seen him a few times and he's a really good dj but I would hardly call his music 'experimental'.

And Craig Richards didn't do a Nu-Breed.

Fucking wicked! Pappa tore the roof off and played some of the most twisted dark driving techno and prog I've heard in, well, ever! Honestly probably best night I've had out in years. Definitely a great club you've got down there guys.

Sorry we didn't get to catch up heylady but when Pappa hit the decks I couldn't leave the floor! 5 hours plus of absolute madness. Thanks for getting me on the door though, was definitely worth the trip! Smile

two of my favoutite ever gigs were Pappa upstairs at ST James and then a year or so later at Centro.
Plays great tunes

no worries blair, glad you had a good time. night was manic all round i think.. but he was sensational! much more than i expected him to be. am very humbled by the night Smile

hope to see some more of you outta town cats back our way soon, theres plenty more party action where that came from Music

Yep he's relentless, keeps the energy flowing like almost no other dj I've heard.

Will definitely be back down there at some stage. If nothing but to have a break from AK's somewhat stagnant scene at the moment.

is it? welli seems to be on fire at the mo. sat night was our first birthday and each gig since the first seems to have got bigger and bigger. house seems to be experiencing quite a resurgence Smile

hopefully it keeps going! dirty house FTW!! Music

Well don't get me wrong we have some good gigs up here but there's just far to much crappy electro and commercial shit pumping out of most clubs on most weekends for my taste. And there was a sense of unity and good vibes at sandwiches on saturday night that I honestly haven't experienced in quite some time. Music
