SAL
Doug Brown aka DJ Sal has been playing drum and bass for over 10 years to his home city Wellington, across New Zealand and aboard. From Playing along side Andy C to Goldie, Sal is known for his up front selections, ensuring the crowd are well entertained while possibly educated on the more musical side of drum and bass. Sal also manages and hosts New Zealand's longest running drum and bass radio show on active 89.fm, 'Future Funk' and thru this outlet as well as playing regularly at Sandwiches (Wellington's premier nightclub), receives the latest, most upfront selection of dubplates from producers across the world. While deejaying is Sals first and foremost passion he has also broken into the production realm, having been signed to local label Empathy, known for introducing artists such as Cern, Trei, Agent Alvin and Theupbeats, Over the last 5 years Sal had put production aside to concentrate on other commitments but has now been convinced by his peers to focus on music again, which will happen when his new studio is completed early next year. Sal is part of the Bass Frontiers Crew (which will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year) and is one of the key figures in the success of the Wellington Scene and its continual strength.
