Finally some decent coaches to give Harbour the potential boost they need, I am a staunch Harbour supporter and feel as though as soon as anyone remotley becomes a better and the blues dont have a spot for them they are plucked generally down to Otago or somewhere in the south.

End rant.

Awesome for Harbour I reckon.

Now they just need to find players who can play rugby. Froggy

Keep them, not find them.

Much like Otago (who seem to poach Harbour players anyway), they've been decimated by poaching of other unions and the player exodus.

Have a wee think about what the Harbour backline would be if most of their players were available Wink

Pat Lam. Champion one year, chump the next....about to move up the the next level and probably be found a chump again (imo)....coaches dont really mean that much to a team in union unless they are terrible, or their back up network is

Harbours problems are the ones Pfunk mentioned, and their lack of tradition means most dont give a rats arse = which means lack of money = lack of retention of our the globally superstar footballers the NH region generates on a very regular basis

Hopefully the academy will bring up a couple of good players, but yeah... The issue is more keeping them than anything...

Fingers crossed for the next season!

Though there really aren't that many Taka boys playing Air NZ cup atm...

(hmmm, hope Boric stays, I like him Razz)

Its quite interesting for me looking at the ages of these guys who play at this level... Most of the upper level players in ice hockey are in their late 20s to early 40s... most of these guys are early twenties (if that)

You'll find that European rugby clubs have an older group of players to those in Southern Hemisphere. Smile

Yeah I've noticed that aswell... But even our national squad is young, the average age for half (gave up after half, couldn't be bothered) the team is still only 26.5...

I think it has to do with type of players both New Zealand and Australia have. Early development etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but physical peek doesn't come till 35 years old?

Not entirely sure about rugby to be honest... Different sports require different physical attributes... Figure skating and gymnastics, especially for women, they peak a lot earlier... but thats probably attributed to the ideals of the people running the sport as opposed to the actual peak of their athletic ability.

Think you're right about the development thing... Seeing as how popular rugby is here.. Don't really have that much competition in junior sports (even soccer, which is still growing in popularity)...
