So i went to bed last night frozen, nauseous, exhausted, and aching (not helped by having spent my first week in the gym for two weeks).

About 3am a visit to the bathroom was in order. Over the next four hours my digestive system turned progressively to water - I could not believe the sheer volume and velocity of liquid Shocked

Today i'm still tired as. Guess i should see a doctor, but how long will this last for? Dam flat mates gave the landlord three weeks notice yesterday and i need to move this weekend or next Mad

I'm still recovering, but was feeling good enough to make a 1pm clock in time at work.

I last ate on monday night, about 7:30pm. At midnight, i threw most of it up, then over the next 12 sleepless hours of cold sweats & stomach pain, probably threw up again another 3 times... the last time was just dry reaching which fucking hurt!! I finally then slept most of yesterday, woke up this morning feeling ok. Will probably eat something soon, when i get time.

If it lasts more than two days, then see a doctor... anything less than that is just standard food poisoning which shouldn't last too long after your body has flushed all the food out.

Drink lots of water.

It depends on the type of food poisoning...

The last time I had it I was really sick for a whole week.

i had that exact same experience, pretty much word for word what you've written - about a month ago.
lasted approx. 4 days in bed, unmoveable, exhausted, achey and feeling like utter shit.
on around the 3rd day i managed to sip on some powerade but still coudln't eat.
lingered in my system for a few days after this and i felt pretty seedy at work too - got me thinking perhaps it was more a virus/tummy bug as opposed to food poisoning.

just try as hard as you can to keep your fluids up and get heaps of rest - try dry toast or cracekrs if you think you can stomach them too.
powerade and lucozade are good for energy as they contain carbs/glucose which makes you feel a bit brighter - but only sip them, no big gulps or sculling cos it just bounces back up Neutral

hope you feel better soon Smile

oh god yeah, i had this too - couldn't laugh or cough for the next week cos my stomach muscles were so sore from all the dry retching - so painful Sad

Electrolytes.
You get them from Brawndo.
It's what plants crave.

umm and if it's coming out of both ends and lasts longer than a day or two you could have gastroenteritis (sp) or the like. I had that once. Couldn't eat for a whole week because it just kept coming back out both ends *grossness*

had to take all sorts of medicine to get better

& keep drinking water to keep hydrated even though that made me vom & the other thing too.

No vomiting, retching or stomach pain thank god
Am sipping some specially prescribed medication as we speak Razz

Looks like i got off pretty lightly.

Be thankful you didn't get Campylobactor.

It's a nasty experience...

Ive had an upset stomach all week - not too bad just general nausea, feeling like im hung over. I have a cold as well just to make it more fun.

Apparently there is a bug going around, mild but long lasting.
[quote]
Yeah depends on the severity of the poisoning.

First time I ever got it I was bedridden for a week then hospitalised with a drip to rehydrate me since I couldn't keep anything in my stomach.

Most recent time was on Tuesday night from some dodgy seafood. Luckily I am the original iron gut so I got to sleep off most of it then had some nausea and cramps the next day Very Happy

My sister wasn't so lucky and wound up awake all night throwing up Embarassed

Our whole flat has had a tummy bug this week, full on helicopter vomit poocano achey fever style. Still trying to figure out whether it is a result of something nasty going around or the unholy dump we live in. Couldn't so much as look at food for about four days.

Yeah I was really sick for about a fortnight. Took another week after that to feel "normal" again too. Like Chaos, I ended up at the A&E on a drip too.

Now I still have hangover aftereffects too. Can't handle anything too spicey, my stomach gets upset a lot easier than it did before. Not fun. Neutral

I've never had food poisoning. thank god.

Rotorua huh!

A whole group of us got it from Astrolab at Mt Maunganui years ago... luckily they realised we were all from the same group so only a few of the others had to give daily poo samples.

Even got visited at home by Dep of Health about the restaurant..

Not pleasant at all

I had gastro around March. Got it off my flattie, it's highly contagious apparently. Anyway that was a fun few days.

Staphylococcus aureus is a quick recovery.
Campylobacter is a medium to long term.
Salmonella is a long term recovery or even symptomless carrier and never recover or beat it.

Like every one syas, drink plenty of water and drink electrolyte drinks. Also burned toast as the charcoal is good for the digestive tract while feeling shitty.
