In all honestly I dont see techno making a comeback in the club scene, unless you get the older generation of acid headz and purists all butoxed up and the gloss girls to leave thier scene of status and who they know to help, it will be youngsters who mistake it for hardhouse.

I am all for a techno revolution.
The whole auckland dance/electronic/club music scene is stale.techno included.

yes.the shit is stale.

Im soooo sick of the working formulas in all production,D&B,HOUSE&HIP HOP,in the live mixing........its wack and its tired.thats whats pushed me into the archives to listen to dave angel and jeff mills etc.

I really think otdoor, and wharehouse is the way to go playing live maybe?

i also think that with the drugs on the current market (the majors)
P,E,speed, and all the caffine and guarana pills around, may be the major concern to the average punters attitude, towards lifestyles and what they listen to at home.its definately a reflextion to the types of people.who want thier fix, thier peers and thier scene now!Its selfish....
Im not gonna rant on about how it used to be.
but nowadays I think the general public are scared, insecure and paranoid.
so they take these drugs........which make them the opposite for a few hours.........then what?

every war sees increases in drug culture, and music.for some form of escapeism perhaps.....where are they going to escape to........

The world needs techno.I need techno.and maybe L.S.D.

in an outdoor event or somewhere I can feel safe from being arrested or judged for my behaviour.

keywords:escape, aggression, peace of mind, drugs and techno outdoors.

Im all for speaking ones mind laff, but thats a pretty authoritive statment of judgment when i dont recall the last time i saw you at a Fu Bar regular SNAFU night, the only regular techno in Auckland.

The djs i know care and are passionate about the music they play and the way they play it, and would generally not want to be held responsible for some "scene", when its the few people that do appreciate the music matter, not the masses that dont.

i tend to agree slug.
there have been countless posts about techno's shortcommings scene wise. some good points are made now and again but without some sugested sulutions those points are given little credit. even a positive sugestion does not meen it will be so, its not that simple. it is a slow process. there has been a slow growth more recently but only because places like fu have given it another opertunity, its the regulars and dj friends that have made the effort because they see the opertunity that has become available. the general public generaly still dont make the jump to techno for many reasons (see past threds), although in saying that i do see newbies makking the most of such a night but more likely because they are there just to have fun, regardless of the genre.
i have gone out more recently for the same reason. techno is back on the fu playlist. i know that its an effort to bring back a more family/comunity vibe and i make the effort to go. i dont realy go with dancing/partying in mind but more just to chat with like minded music lovers. i think now is the time to make the effort purely to kick it into a regular format, a follow on effect is what we all hope for from here! if it survives the honeymoon period with positive growth then the likely hood of fu investing $$$ into an international techno dj is much more likely. anyone forking out such an investment right now would have to be either very dedicated/romantic or have a wod of expendible cash to throw away! -although if anyone did i would love them for it and do what i could to help out for free.
i think that upcomming nights like saturdays at grand circle (house/techhouse/techno) will be positive because it will expose more housier type punters to techno. there isnt realy any other way to reach techno virgin ears.
i dont realy understand the points about drugs equating to musical likes or dislikes. drugs dont dictate musical taste, they only add something to your current taste. i nor many of my friends never experimented with substances because we were feeling a little insecure and paranoid, more the experience a new perspective, an enhancement tool. but i STRESS it is not what dictates our party patters. most of us can give or take it, no big deal. it is plane to see that if the score dictates whether we go out or not the obviosly there is some sort of problem. the only essential elements for us (i dont speak for everyone, my circle of friends only) is a group of friends and the music we like.
-i dont see where you are going with the drug issue hsdubbing.
the main issue is that the so called scene should primarily catter for those who suport it regularly. those regulars have friends who will sometimes find infuence from them, and so on. if techno were ever to become a solid genre in AK then it will be a long slow road. im not saying have patience, just accept it and enjoy it while it lasts! more importantly add yourself to a regular head count and lobby your lazy friends.

Pink Winky Well put.

Ok I may be a little bit out of touch with aucklands (for love of a beter word)scene.
It was a pretty blindly spoken opinion I admit.I was ofcourse talking of patrons punters and thier approach,
to being openminded and spiritually connected thru drugs to the music and life, not the hardworking headz behind the scene.full credt due.

Im sure anyone involved will laugh and take it in stride.

That whole post after a second look and a bad weekend shows that my major concern is where the fuck am I at!!!
All I saw was pigs, filth pigs wallowing in selfindulgence it was ugly.everybody was offchops goatmouth and sweaty......yeah broo ilove you and .........yuor muuzhick......brrrrrrroooo FUCKOFF!

I long for an outdoor event like the gathering and the frame of mind.
the 'clubscene' i feel is coming to an end for me.I think ill stick to house partys and outdoor events.....im losing respect real quik.

Im trying to picture a life without P and crack, and in my dream world I see people talking, dancing, some of course coupling, some sober some experimenting with chemicals,
but I dont see junkies using dance partys for reason or excuse to indulge.

Its pretty genralised but I was mainly trying to strike up discusion.

wheres Denver at?

What is it about techno that hasn't caused it to cotten on and become bigger than it could have been by now? Im talking about auckland not berlin or detroit.

Are we failing to churn out educated electronica heads at the required rate of knots ? Or is it techno's obscurity that keeps it as undergroud as it has been over the last decade or more.

I've idly watched the techno scene from a mild distance over the last 9 years. It's serious, funny and obtuse. All at the same time. The dj's are the most educated, passionate & technical of the dj kind, as are the punters. Some of you must remember snow crash, ratio, straylight etc @ the box all those years ago & how it sorta went off one week and was fairly sparse for the other 3... it still seems that way even after so many moons have passed.

I dont think its anyone's fault as such, definitly not the dj's who play it or the promotors, just that techno is what techno is. Electronica with an edge and minus influences like dub... thats almost about as colourfull as it gets.

This is just my little opinion about it of course, not the absolute truth. My idle observations.

ANND this has all been said before probably, some time ago.. but hell one more time aint gonna hurt.

Personally i love a splashing of techno and admire good techno dj's who add a colourfull mosaic to their regime ( jeff mills @ fu a little while back was absolutly blazin'.. ). Look forward to more nights like that... Of which im sure there will be many.
