OK - with 330 Islands to choose from, and 1,000's of resorts to chose from it's starting to give me a headache...

Anyone been to Fiji before and can recommend an Island to go to? I'll be going to Nandi (mainland) for a few days then will be looking to go to a differnt island.

Is there a "Party Island"? (Excluding Beachcomber Island which looks pretty gay)

Is there an Island that just "has to be seen"?

Are there activities that "just have to be done"?

and finally...

Any pointers that one needs to know when going for the first time?

We stayed on Plantation Island for a week., It was great, but everyone was 40+++ The only people our own age we saw were there wiht their parents.

My advise is to stay in Nandi for as short a time as possible.

From what I saw Beachcomber would be the bext bet if yopu wqant to hang out wiht people your own age.

Most of the Isalnd will organise everything you want to do. Snorkelling and the banana boat rides are probably some of the best things to not miss.

Have fun

Cheers for that... I'd really like to find a place with people my age.

From what I've seen of Beachcomber Island it looks like it's catering for the young & teenagers. The accommodation is mainly a dorm (not going to happen!) and food was served a la carte (not going to happen either). Accommodation for a private room was something silly like $300+ a night...

h-e-l-p.... anyone else?

If you are in Nadi for a few nights I can highly recommend Sonaisali Island resort.

It's about 15mins by taxi from Nadi itself and is a 105 acre island about 300m off the coast reached by boat that they have staff at 24hours a day.

It's a good base to have a few days to unwind and have an island feel while still being able to pop into Nadi during / hire a car (if you do hire a vehicle on the mainland I'd recommend a 4wd as once you get off the main road it's pretty rough dirt roads in a lot of places)
