I haven't seen the challenge yet, but I think the rules are fairly clear on the fact that tackling with the sprigs up is a possible send off offence ...he may have gone for the ball, but did he actually get it?

Mexico, quite easily the most impressive second round qualifiers... They didn't win every game like Brazil or Spain, but look at the calibre of the oppoisition Mexico faced compared to the other two. Although Brazil, playing the beautiful game will go all the way. The reason the big teams are dropping out is unimaginative attacking. Even the minnows have learnt how to counter basic continental or long ball tactics... Brazil's one touch give and go will rip the defense of anyone apart. Sure they may concede a few, but they always score more anyway... And Edmilson, fucking cracker of a goal.

That Chinese guy definately shouldn't have been sent off-it should have only just warranted a yellow card at the most.

Those Brazilian goals were class, it wasn't just their weaker opposition, there was some real skill shown there.

And as for Mexico's goal against Italy, that was incredible, definately gonna be one of the best goals of the tournament so far.

The TAB has taken a big hit with one World Cup bet.

A lucky punter has cleaned up with a winning bet on Thursday night's Brazil-Costa Rica match.

The punter correctly picked Brazil to win the match 5-2. He bet $1,000 at odds of 100 to 1 returning a cool $100,000.

The TAB has reported record betting on the World Cup which runs through to the end of the month.

That Edmilson goal was so nice. The Brazillians seem to be getting bigger and better with every game. Very impressed with most of their bench as well, players like Kaka (don't laugh and of course Deneilson doing his last minute dash. They used every substitution in the Costa Rica game.




As for Turkey, they'd be fucked without Hassan Sas. Class player. Don't like their bullying style of football though. Oh well.

The own goal should also have been credited to Ronaldo, who cares if a Costa Rican got the last touch. Ronaldo wa sbeing simultaneously fouled by three players but still gets the ball into the net. Unlike Owen, who couldn't wait for the Argentine defender to lay a finger on him so he could claim a penalty.

I laughed when Ireland got the penalty and Spain has taken off Morientes and Raul... Although aparantly Raul was injured. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. The second penalty though was pretty lucky though, referees could give that penalty off every free kick and corner if they wanted to.

Altghough hearing all the Irish singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' was fucking cool.

Brazil, Belgium have looked rather flat all tournament... They lack a real striker, Wilmots is a midfielder. Plus their defense is shakey, shakey defense against Brazil will never do.

Mexico are playing some of the best football in the World Cup. The USA got killed by Poland in their last game, but if they take their chances like they did against Portugal they might have a chance. I doubt it though, Mexico are looking fucking good right now. Easily the most impressive qualifiers.

The US are one of the luckiest teams in the last 16 and should get dicked by Mexico. They look like the only team in the world capable of breaking the south america/european monopoly on the world cup as even an outside chance.

Senegal could quite easily make it to the semis too, given their next opponent will be Japan or Turkey.

USA have been really lucky to say the least

As for Ireland, I don't feel sorry for them at all. They had their chances in the second half while Spain did their all too familiar choke at the world cup routine. Spain only had 10 men in extra time aswell. Now that Spain have got their mandatory fuck up out of the way and played a decent team , they could be contenders.

No doubt, But then again USA have gone stronger since the last time..

As for Brazil Vs. Belgium, well it should be interesting...
