FIBA U19 Basketball World Champs

Started last night at the NSEC.

Game of the opening rounnd was definitely NZ vs Argentina, in which we almost pulled off a massive upset against the FIBA Americas champs. We lack a bit in the height department but have speed and skill to burn, I was really impressed. We have a well-drilled team that could surprise at this tournament, they played a solid zone D and were lighting it up on offense at times. Ruscoe,Loe, and Prewster in particular seem to have the goods.

Definitely going to get along to a couple of games, really want to catch the Americans too...some genuine NBA prospects amongst their squad.

About two games a day played live on Sky too btw...

64-62 if i remember rightly.. Jeeze cant believe he travelled on that pass... Yes time was running out. Shoot the fuckin thing. Dont stand there looking at the clock!!

Close loss to Croatia too last night. need to beat Kazakstahn tonight to advance which they shoudl b able to do. Both teams they have just lost to have beaten Kazakstahn easily so we shoudl manage this

They probably should have won. So many shots missed that should have been made.

and the fact that we had a 7 point lead as well?

Yeah, but when you're playing a team that's shooting almost 60% from the field and over 50% from three, you are VERY seldomly gonna win. They shot far better than us, deserved to win. We didn't take any time to run the offense, Edwards is a quality player, but his shot selection and subsequent low FG% cost us big time there.

Proud of the lads anyway, boxed well above our weight..shame we didn't get a win to validate that effort. We wouldn't even have been there had we not been hosts. I'll definitely still be heading along for the knockout rounds.

Still a chance for a win against Syria today isn't there? ...or does that not count as it's a play off for bottom of the comp or something?

Nah, it's like a plate round...they had some odd name for it.

Watched the game... I think the last 1/4 killed us fitness wise, could tell that 3 high intensity games in 3 days was to much.

I reckon with a day or 2 rest we would of cleaned up
