so I'm listening to Glen Morisson - Contact and I'm absolutely loving it.

Problem is I can think of at 3 other tunes in my collection that follow a really similar formula or sound the same.....at this stage I feel like I'd just be wasting money buyng it but it's such a nice melody. Dilemma.

Dubfire - Ribcage

The "waap waap waap" noise is so much like the noise from Simons remix of Tijuana, Groove Is In The Air!

Call me crazy but are Glen Morisson and Deadmau5 one in the same? 'Cause I noticed those two new tunes came out on Mau5trap and they sound exactly like evey other Deadmau5 tune out at the moment.

I don't know, I'm kind of over his sound now. He had a good thing going be he's ruined it by releasing too many samey tunes in a short period of time.

Only fags with no ideas of their own. I loved heaps of the earlier Deadmau5 stuff when it was a bit more housey and party-ish. The stuff he's done this year has got more and more samey and in-a-groove for circuit electro DJs.

it's the same with plenty of trance....

all tracks produced on a label all sound the same, it's like the different artists just walk into the studio and use all the same presets as the last artist before them and just bang out a tune with those same presets....

Yes. Darude even said this once in an interview... He said he just bought the new Nord Lead keyboard and made tunes with the standard settings. Once tons of other people started doing it too he upgraded to a new synth. He said it happened over and over in trance.

(You've got to factor in that plenty of trance guys would probably say he's not one of them tough)

I reckon genres just have their own general production hallmarks. Old NY House always had distorted kick-drums, techno had kick-drums with really high attack but less oomff than house, Chicago was about jacking rhythms, Miami was about big-room banging sound, New Jersey stuff was about soulful keys and bassline...

mmm i agree, but theres genre distinct sound, and then theres blatantly jumping on the production bandwaggon. going back to the deadmau5 thing, can anyone actually tell the difference between Deadmau5 - Not Exactly and Adam K & Soha - Twilight?

ive been listening to the bloody things all week and i still can't remember which is which. nice tunes... but.....
