EVO2 or EVO3??

Hey i cant decide which i should get either an EVO2 or EVO3, EVO2 i could just pay cash straight up and its mine, but for the EVO3 ive gota go on finance i don't care but i'll get my head bitten off my my olds coz its real expensive.

so should i get the EVO2 my olds might get pissed but only a lil, or the EVO3(as i really really want it) thats when they'l get really pissed. so its get the EVO3 to make myself happy and make my olds get pissed at me for well. . . forever, or EVO2 i like but not as mich ats the EVO3 plus they wont get as mad??

Personally i think an evo would just make you a target for cops and theives. I prefer sleepers that dont look like much but when you choose to can give people a fright, makes you less of a target and if you pick the right car your insurance premiums will be much lower so you can spend the $$ on sounds alarm etc. Be original.

Yeah, if you're under 21, there's no way in hell they'll insure you (legally anyway). If you're under 25, good luck to ya as well.

Going on finance for an ECO3 is a big decision - how hard will it be to keep up with the repayments? What other sacrifices are you going to need to make?

You'll also have you get it well alarmed if it isn't already - as Rx says, it'll make you a target. There's nothing like expesnive sounds to make you a target though - as I found out when my car got ripped off for $3k of sounds a few months ago. Thanks to the alarm/immobiliser, I still actually have a car... at least.

If you can, dish out abit more for an EVO IV, huge performance, handling improvements over II and III but dont go for V's cos there crap.

Banga69 - doing it under yor parents name is illegal and insurance fraud unless you get yourself listed as the "main driver". The insurance companies are getting really uptight about this, and if you have an accident, it's quite likely you will be investigated.

Most of the time if you list yourself as the main driver you won't get much discount having it in your parents name instead of yours (unless you parents have got heaps of other insurance business with the company and can get a bulk discount).

Put it this way, to insure my relatively sane 1988 Honda Civic Si (the 1600 DOHC, EFI, 16-valve ZC engine model) fully for $3500 (a while ago now) would have cost $1250 at full premium (I'm 20 btw). Luckily I was on a 65% discount for no claims (like 4 years of no claims) so only paid $450. The insurance company (State, in my case) said it wouldn't matter whose name the car was in as I was the main driver.

Be careful before you decide to go down the fraud path, I've heard some horror stories of people who've (rightly) been fucked over doing that. (i.e. crashing and writing off their $15k Legacy RS's, and finding themselves uninsured when the insurance company finds out they were the main driver)

I wouldn't do that, as your expensive car might end up not being insured at all if you crash and the insurance company find out. Which they are doing more and more these days.

Incidentally, those committing insurance fraud make the premiums higher for honest peeps like me, so in theory, I should be against it completely.

anyway, get a real car. Those little rockets are fine if you have a track to drive on, which you don't - they are very fast, very expensive to maintain/insure/run, and very unrefined, kind of like driving a very fast tractor, with no suspension (as far as comfort goes anyway!)

Yeah, I'm not trying to be an arsehole, just trying to help, re: the insurance thing. It's easy to get yourself into trouble, and the more people dop it, the more the insurance companies get worried about it, and the more private investigators get out there on the streets. Paying a few grand to a PI is nothing for an insurance company when a $15k claim for a written off car is at stake, that's all.

I've taken an interest in it from another perspective too. I was a car audio buff (before I got my system nicked), and I knew a lot of people who had not disclosed their $3000 stereos in insurance companies, had their car's nicked, and the insurance company wouldn't pay out for the car due to non disclosure of the stereo.

I made sure mine was legit, and the insurance company (State for me) were great about it. THey said "yep, that's fine, thanks for letting us know" and my premium went up a bit, but only up by the value of the stereo.

Anyway, I was very appreciative of this when my car got broken into and stereo nicked. State paid out the market value of my stereo, $2000, no questions asked - fixed all the damage to my car (locks, interior - although it was a shoffy job admittedly) and everything. Was really easy, cos they already knew about everything in advance.

But, I digrees. I still think if you're set an an EVO, go for the EVO2.

ummm evo 3 or 2 depends how much you really wanna spend. evo 3 of course has better things then evo 2. but like i said it all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

If you really wanna Evo, buy a real softcock Lancer and then Evo kit it. You'll have a better time getting insurance, and if everyone thinks you're 'scary' then they won't try you on. And even if they do, you're too 'scary' to have bothered chasing eh?


That way you can slap on the whole Evo III kit, plus a V bonnet, and get sounds AND insurance. Nice.

Evo 2 or 3 ? Are you mad or just blind. Either look towards a 4 or push the dollar and go towards a 5. Check out the specks and bodies on these bad boys and im sure you will agree.

Get a lesser known hot 4 like a Pulsar GTiR. Much easier to insure.

Yeah, a guy at work has an Evo2, and he says he\'s had it joy ridden three times, and attempted to be stolen three other times. (it\'s alarmed too, with a top notch Uniden) Not pleasant ah. Mind you, it\'s probably the same with a GTiR or any other hot car too.

Spec wise apparantly the evo 2 rs is the fastest of the models due to the extra weight involved in the three. Money wise your looking 18000-25000 for a evo2 and around low to mid 30\'s for a three. the three have a slightly higher power output and a better kit. You have the age to take into account the newer it is the less it has been fuckd with or possibly rallied. Personally i would go for the two, there are to many 3 wanabies around so you cant tell if it is real or not. two\'s have a nice subtle kit and better seats than the ones. Go for the two. My m8 brought one the other day from a dealer for $19000 its silver, mags etc nice 85000km thats an example.

Be quick because they are bringing in the pre 94-96 bulshit if youve heard this year. If that\'s the case i really really would recommend a four but still out of the 2/3 go for the 2. Just be careful on the mods, i spend $23000 grand on my starlet sigh i missssssss my baby.

there are only afew ligit 3's driving around, there are even afew GSR with EVO1-3 kits but yea!

so seeing an EVO3 cruise pass in pretty rare around here.

If thats the case go for the 3, just in auckland there is far to many bloody threes. you cant go past a gsr without it havn the wing or frony bar.
