Engine Tune Up

I've got a '91 MR2 GT Turbo that's had a few mods here and there, and it could do with a tune up and service. I might still do the oil & filter change myself (got my methods than I'm sure no body employs unless it's their own car) and find some spark plugs (otherwise they might put in the $80 platinum jobbies which to my mind don't just cost more, but they spark less) but aside from that, what do you guys recommend I do and who should I take it to?
And most important, how much is it likely to cost me?

do it yaself smiley, surely you know enough from what ive read over the years, and youve had the mr2 for long enoug (if its the same one) to know what makes it tick dude

Nah I don't really know that much, I used to muck around with cars that had carbs and distributor assemblies. My car is too modern for my knowlege, I have no idea what they'd even do to tune it.

Bought the plugs today & oil n stuff, looking forward to that bit.

yeah im the same with these new fuel injected cars

give me a carb and ill get it working good but all the new electrical crap buffles me

You don't actually get a modern car tuned anymore, unless you are running an aftermarket ECU etc, if you can do the oil, oil filters and plugs etc, then do it yourself.

Typically it can cost around 150-180 if you take it to an auto electrician

djrisk, the car used to be very fast, but it's had a turbo downgrade from when I bought the car, so it's not so fast anymore...

mines ('90 rx7) pretty much standard except for an exhaust.... im gonna run it down the quarter at meremere at the import battle in february. If i can crack 14s ill be happy.....
