Can anyone recommend any flavours that aren't impossible to choke down?

you need to get used to them in training before you try them in a race. i used to like the balance gels...can't remember the flavour exactly...tropical or orange maybe? how many gels did you take? for a half marathon i would maybe take 2 absolute max? and i REALLY need them as i'm diabetic (ie i don't take them i don't finish the race!)

how did your half marathon go otherwise? sore today? heh

I have used them in training a couple of times. I had one in the pantry so took it with me on my last half marathon a month ago and noticed it worked quite well coupled with powerade at the drinks stations so I took two on this one.

Not sore today....it's my fifth one so my body is used to it - I just have really bruised toes. Having a 2 month break this time before my next one in Welly.

if yr not sore you didn't push yourself Razz i have done around 5-6 half ironmans, and 3-4 stand alone half marathons...i'm always really sore the day after. if you have a gel you should have some fluid too. you may find you only really need one gel for a half marathon? but if you have only used them in training a few times perhaps you just need to use them more...i know when i get to a stage in 2 plus hour race and i start to feel nauseous because of gels that i need to switch to flat coke. flat coke seems to settle my stomach right down in those situations.
