Have you tried them as an alternative to smoking? I might try it… I might just try the flavoured ones, some of them have a teeny bit of nicotine .. I think? Oh well anything is better than tar and nicotine in my lungs …

The juices with nicotine in them are harsh as fuck, like 10 times worse than a puff on a smoke...sure, you're removing the tar and what not, but they weren't pleasant at all...the ones without nicotine were super smooth and the Red Bull one is pretty tasty

My Mum used it as an effective way to quit.

I'm in favour of any assistance to quit that disgusting habit. Give it a go!

I've "quit" twice before... once cold turkey and once with the patches.

The patches were definitely easier in that first week, which is the worst part of the whole affair.

Hrmm I might just do it… would be good to try out different flavours…red bull now that would be a goer!!! Though I’d have to try and sit away from actual real smokers as second hand smoke is pretty much just as crap. I’m gonna get my sister a eCig for her bday haha she’s gonna be like wtf but still it’s gross all of a sudden I’ve just really gone off it in a big way.

Read Allan Carr's book, helps put you in a good mindset to 'become a non-smoker'...but agreed, as a rule, replacement therapies aren't all they're cracked up to be...you'll still feeding yourself nicotine thus keeping yourself addicted

Second hand smoke is just as bad, but the aim is get yourself off the habit. Once you're a non smoker you won't want to sit near smokers anyway.

Second hand smoke is actually worse, as in the smoke that drifts off the end of a burning cigarette, as it's completely unfiltered.

When you smoke you get the benefits of both first AND second hand smoke!

my mum gave up after like 50 years of smoking. She tried the patches, the gum, etc before and it never worked. The only thing that worked in the end was Zyban.. it's not a nicotine replacement, its more of an anti-depressant. It's pretty expensive, but she found it the most effective. It isn't just replacing the nicotine from cigarettes with nicotine from another source, it actually helps you lasts through the withdrawl....

I find it hard to believe 2nd hand smoke is 'just as bad' or 'worse' because the amount inhaled is drastically reduced in terms of volume.

Yeah I'm sure the amount of people exposed to 2nd hand smoke who die because of it is a lot less than people who die due to directly smoking.

My aunt was using an e-cig for a while, it was quite alarming when she'd smoke it inside. She got asked to smoke it outside at her work because people were getting put off! I tried it, it was horribly strong! I had not smoked for a while though.

It hasn't stopped her smoking, although she has proper pack a day addiction!

How does that work? When do you wean yourself off patches? or do you go less powerful ones and cut down the nicotine?

I quit about 3 months ago, I still get brief cravings but I don't miss smoking at all so they're very easy to resist, even when drinking. Being around smokers makes me want to smoke less as well.

I think the idea is patches get rid of the habit or smoking, and then you ween off them to deal with the nicotine addiction.

Can you buy the nicotine carts for the e-cigs in nu zuland? Two chemists told me they were not available. I have one and love it, I just want some nico carts.

Not sure about NZ, but nicotine juices/carts aren't sold in Aussie...but it's legal to buy them from an overseas site in a limited quantity...tis a tad odd, even aussie based online sellers can't sell them, but it's OK to bring in like 3 or 4 bottles of juice for personal use

I'd check with the airline, eh? Would be an expensive and annoying thing to get confiscated...and seeing as there is an electronic coil in them which could, technically, cause a fire, it could be iffy...though they let you take ligthers, so you'd think it would be fine, but I'd check.

I tell you know, the juices for the Ego-T tank style e-cigs with Nicotine in them are fucking rough as guts on your throat...to the point that's what stopped me from using mine, they're fucking awful...that was the 24Mg juices tho, 18Mg or 12Mg would hopefully be a lot less scratchy...it astounded me, as a smoker of both ciggies and weed, just how rough they were, especially compared to juices with no nicotine which just felt like puffing on flavoured air
