DVD copy protection strippng???

just wondering if anyone knows of any websites that allow you to download programmes to strip dvds of their protection layer to copy them for personal use, just go a dvd writer and found i can only copy some of them

you can rip the dvd

Download a program called smartripper(www.smartripper.com) or something similar, use that to copy all the files from that to your hard drive. After you have done that then use your dvd burning software to burn all the files to DVD.

Remember that some DVD's are dual layer and are 9GB,those cannot be burned to 1 dvd disc, not sure on how to do these ones sorry

I don't have DVD burner, but I do rip DVDs quite often using the #1 DVD ripper, and the picture quality is fairly good even on avi standards formats

you people may or may not be aware the copy / ripping dvds is illegal.... so you prolly don't want to be doing it

we dont actually care about you guys we just want to save our own arses from trouble.

We just assume he is only going to rip non copywrited dvd's. Problem solved.

why would non copytighted dvd have copy protection

i just wanna back up all my dvds i own now.... incase they get scratched or stolen

plus not usng it for profit so ot breaking copywrite laws i hope...

yeah, that is illegal... you should not do this.. hopefully the format shifting law will go through and then you can... but until then it is illegal

Is there any dvd copy software which copies on a bit-by-bit basis like Blind Copy does for CD's?

The software package that came with my CDRW does bitwise CD and DVD copies. I forget which package it is exactly, but I would have thought that most would do it.
