The email is a warning letter from our ISP about a complaint made to them that "someone" had illegally downloaded Microsoft Office 2010

Real? How does that work?... who made the 'complaint'?

Do they do the same about illegal music, movie and TV downloads in Aussie?

At this stage it really depends on the ISP and how they choose to deal with it.

She is probably with an ISP an anal as she is. Very Happy

Dunno really. I use it for a couple of simple spreadsheets at home.Any other documents I have are just done in notepad++.

I assume anyone pirating it is using it for home use, so surely not requiring much beyond simple functionality?

Yeah I mostly got it because I'm so used to Outlook now and cbf learning to get used to another email client.
Never used OO - does it open all the same types of files across all the different Office programs?
[quote]
isnt outlook free? hmmm not sure maybe not
you could just use Outlook Express if proper Outlook isnt free. if thats really all you want office for.
[quote]
Well I already have Office now so it's not really a problem heh.
I just need to stop seeding it Razz

Outlook is part of Office. Outlook Express isn't really a solution to someone who wants Outlook because that's what they are used to. (And Outlook Express doesn't exist any more)
[quote]
Outlook express doesn't exist anymore but Windows Live Mail does. But Outlook is much more than a basic email client.

edit: posted unaware kris had posted.. Razz
[quote]
I use thunderbird on computers I cant be arsed installing office on. It works fine except the search function isnt as good as outlook 2007+

OO is ok if like most people you hardly use word / excel and its so much easier for non techies to avoid installing the updates that tell your you are using pirated software. You can always install the free word and excel viewers if you're only reading files.

Hahaha, i'd love to see some photos of this girl too. She sounds nuts, so is she sleeping with all these guys? or do they just stand outside her room with arms crossed whenever she is in there?

On a side note... amongst my friends.. whenever anyone screws up something with a girl it's now "dude... you just crashed the scooter with her". Hopefully that saying doesn't spread too far.

meh so wouldn't waste a perfectly good murder on her! maybe a hog tie/hostage situation could be a goer!... start turning up with random objects and see how she goes.. I'm thinking duct tape and rope.... maybe some cement blocks.

Either that or turn up quite late one night with a large restaurant linen bag and make a show of lugging across the ground heavily.... give her shifty eyes and look dodgy and hurry into your room.

Make the bitch squirm!

Infact, can I help in anyway? I'm a fricken bored housewife these days!... oooo I could get some large cuts of meat from the restaurant and you could put those in a plastic garbage bag with a big slit in it so she could see some kinda flesh hanging out.... you get the idea...

I think I'm onto something! hahahahaha!

Keeping this in mind ^^^ Now that you have obviously followed my advice about the ventrilliquist dummy...

STEP 2

email her in a few days and say:

"Now that I am moving out anyway, after living here for a week, it has become very obvious to me that we wouldnt of suited living together anyway...

I mean, you can live your life as you want, but your level of permiscuity is something I am just not comfortable with in a roomate.

The amount of different men you have had over the last week (a different one every night) is something I do not condone, and I am not comforatble having such a stream of strangers constantly in my home and around my belongings.

Why I bring this up, is last night your strict asian father called for you when you wern't here.... And we got to talking....

obviously he was concerned with me living here and the safety of his daughter, i assured him I had no ill feelings towards you and will happily move out ....but I shared with him that I also felt uncomfortable living with a prostitute as I can only assume that is your primary occupation... understandably when I mentioned all the men, he didnt seem to happy."

Not much to report from this weekend...

Seems she's relaxed a little bit because Saturday, for the first time in a week, she came home without a bodyguard! Still, she mostly kept away from me. She did call me out to the lounge on Sunday to have another 'chat' - and I was thinking "here we fkn go..." but turns out she's trying a new strategy, and said she wants to 'help' me find a new place faster, so she's going to start looking for places too and send me links. She even offered to buy a subscription for me to one of the sites that requires it, and help schedule my interviews hahaha...

FINAL UPDATE! :>

So psycho flatmate started hassling me about the bond late last week, which was due to be paid today. I told her I'm not paying the bond while I'm on notice to leave, it doesn't make any sense. She said okay fine, and then emails me the next day and says "As discussed, I think it's best you pay the full bond now. Please note that if you don't, I can reduce the 'notice to vacate' period to 14 days". I sent back that we didn't discuss that at all and I'm going to disregard this and stick to what we agreed to in person; then she wouldn't reply anymore.

On Friday night, I finally locked down a new place! Yay. So I thought 'hang on... here's an opportunity' :> On Saturday, the day I was to be moving in to the new place, I texted psycho flatmate and said "Hey. Just to let you know, it's been too hard and stressful finding a new place, so I'm giving up for now. You should probably serve 90 days notice when you can, and I'll get you the bond tomorrow, and I'll try searching in another month or so".

Predictably, she came out of her room all upset and said she didn't see any point of staying in the same house and how uncomfortable it is. I said "Actually I'm pretty comfortable - I'm just not the type of person to get so wound up and upset about small things, and it'll be easier for me to take my time finding a place", and made up some story about how my stuff from NZ is arriving and needs a place to go asap so I don't have to pay for storage. She kept stressing and looking uncomfortable, so I said in a resigned tone "Okay - if you really want this to be over fast, how about you refund me everything I've paid [3 weeks rent] and I can use that money to put my stuff in storage and stay in a hostel for a while". So she thought about it and agreed, and gave me $780 cash! And then I moved out to my new place an hour later. Owned bitch :>

I don't think deceiving someone can ever be "top work" but I guess our moral standards nowadays are pretty poor.

Considering I'm actually working on something about the morality of "covert policing" for an article, I'm quite familiar with the arguments.
I fail to see how any of the arguments used to support that can be used in your example. If I said "Yak my mother is dying of cancer and I really need some money" and you gave me the money, i'd be doing exactly what you did: obtaining money through deceptive means (for no higher purpose).

So you will have absolutely no problem if I masquerade as a meter reader, go onto your property and burgle you? Because deceiving for personal gain is "who the fuck cares?" right?

Mine was for a higher purpose: social conditioning. I was providing a socially valuable association between "being a psycho bitch" and "getting owned for $780".

So youll donate it to a registered charity then? :p

It was basic blackmail/ deception. No one is going to lose sleep over it but that doesn't change what it was.
[quote]
I think 'blackmail' is probably going a bit far bob Razz

I was legally entitled to 90 days notice, and I was offering to forego my rights to make things easier for her, in exchange for money. It's just a mutually beneficial trade Razz Blackmail implies (or denotes) some form of illegal/immoral threat will come to fruition if she doesn't pay up. But me simply choosing to enforce my rights as a tenant can't really be considered a 'threat'. I'm not exactly looking to justify this morally, but it's not blackmail, and I certainly don't feel bad about it given what a hassle she's put me through Razz
[quote]
it wasn't blackmail.
[quote]
ah ha ha. Craziness.
I'm wondering whether she herself was telling the whole truth. Perhaps she just needed you to get out cos of some ill played trickery of her own. Which has backfired majorly.

Or - she's just a bit dumb.
[quote]
Lol, hardly blackmail Laughing Laughing
[quote]
Im not worried what you did but it was blackmail.

If you dont pay me $780 I will make you put up with me for 90 days = blackmail (or extortion if you wish)

Just because you deceived her and said it in a round about way doesn't make it any less.

[quote]
Far. Kin. Lol.
So glad I came back to this thread, you sir are a master Smile
[quote]
Impressive and amusing.

Personally not sure where I sit with it morally though, but lets face it, she did have it coming. Smile
[quote]
Classic! Love the work done here. I could never get away with something like this, but mainly cause I'm a terrible liar.

Someone needs to track her onto FB and send her a link to this!
[quote]
at first I was a bit uncomfortable with it but I've concluded its more like compensation than blackmail.
she screwed you round and rightfully had to pay to disengage you from your rights.
[quote]
Hahahahahahaha!!!! Yak, you are my hero! Very Happy

Say what you all want, this is a woman who potentially put him in a really hard situation. He may well have ended up homeless at some point, and she certainly made life difficult. IMO, fair call doing what he did.

Its not blackmail and I wouldnt go so far as calling it extortion either.. maybe a dash of sweet revenge, but Id be more inclined to call it a payment for emotional turmoil and upheaval.

I reckon all you whiners are just jealous that you didnt come up with it. Razz
[quote]
Top work!

If she didn't pay the money though what would you have done then?
