Does Daft Punk have anything left?

Will they ever come up with the goods again, or do I just keep listening to Homework and Discovery?
Im keen to hear what Mr Warner has to say, and Im trying to keep the house board alive.

over rated act IMHO - I won't be lossing any sleep if they don't do anything recorded again

Guess it's like asking whether Underworld have anything left. They got the ball rolling in a different era and are almost folklore in dance music. Despite this, from their peaks in the 90s they've both basically put out worse and worse records in terms of relevance and wow!-factor.

Daft Punk - I reckon their era is well over in terms of making really good dance music. So far as making big, popular tunes in the same way Groove Armada etc have they've probably still got it in them.

See I think even Groove Armada have passed their meteoric peak. Basement Jaxx, Chemical Bros, etc same story. Yeah, they will probably have the occasional thing that may still do some damage, but I would consider that a blip on an otherwise downward trajectory

Can anyone recommend any acts that are similar to Daft Punk (old stuff)? Most of the French stuff around now is very Justice sounding, and all of my other fave's have either quit or have turned shit.

Early I:Cube & Etienne De Crecy was similarish. I:Cube in particular are awesome. Their 'Picnic Attack' LP from about '98 was awesome.

Check a a little known producer from Sydney caled DCUP. We is doing some awesome stuff that is modern version of a Daft Punk-esque sound.

Chateau Flight (aka I:cube and someone else) are pretty great and still releasing the odd thing as far as I know.. Their record on innervisions a few years back is still a favourite of mine.

As for Daft Punk - I wouldn't write them off but I do think they have become more relevant to a kind of indie hipster demographic than a house one.

Yeah.. Nicolas Chaix (I:Cube) and Gilbert Cohen (aka Cheek and DJ Gilbr).

Their first tune, 'Discobole' the Pepe Bradock mix, was played a lot at the Box in 98. All that stuff was pretty hard to get then but I loved that sound.

You guys ever hear their remix of Stardust? I used to love teasing everyone with the Chateau mix and then dropping the original just as everyone was about ready to explode.

I heard Daft Punk are doing the new soundtrack to TRON 2 I probably can think of quite a few better artists for the job.Light cycles with filtered disco would be a strange mix.
