I think I might have mentioned this a while back and was hoping it would be fixed in the RC but alas, no. I've scoured the internet for a fix and a few people have mentioned it as a problem but I can't see a fix for it. Prolly a registry tweak or something:

When playing an MP3 with WMP12, because of the new taskbar, playing a song causes the WMP window to maximise. This also makes it the active window, meaning you have to click explorer again to make that the active window. If you then play another MP3, it maximises WMP again, and makes it the active window. Very annoying if you flick through a large number of song files. I realise I could install winamp or use itunes, but I like wmp and would prefer to keep using that. In previous versions of windows/wmp, the mini player meant wmp stayed minimized when you opened a new song.

Has anybody been able to get around this?

Can't you just add your MP3 directory to the WMP library and then use that to listen and explore your MP3's? I know its a pain but def a way you can use it and minimize the annoyance.

I guess that might do the trick.
I don't usually use the library as I have everything sorted in explorer but I did see something about the library being much improved in later versions of WMP.

I'll give it a try, cheers.

Yeah well organised explorer folders FTW.

Its obvious why every media player these days has to create its own library to 'organise' your music etc. They are trying to lock you into using their product.

This is really something that should be part of the OS not part of a specific media player.

Winamp 5 with a classic skin still works best for me.

You can include your "well organised explorer folders" in a library in Windows 7. They are then accessible as part of the library but still remain in the location you stored them.

That's true its just annoying when every program you install these days wants to scan your entire hard drive and create its own little library just so it can data mine your media habbits and target you with advertising.

I'm not a big fan of MP3 tags though due to all the different versions and huge variety of naming conventions.
