I was sitting quietly in a distant stall in the loo at work (I know, I know but I gotta set the scene) when a colleague came in and started having a full-on conversation with himself, in which he had the conversation with his boss that he wished he could have. man, was he laying down the law.

I listened to the whole thing. It was hilarious.

I sometimes catch myself muttering under my breath when I am daydreaming or something, but I never have full on imaginary monologues.
[quote]
Not really. I think too much though… way too much. So I guess I’m a introvert rather so don’t really verbalise to myself just think things.
[quote]
I do all the time. Mostly just verbalising comments that I would say if someone were listening.

That shit is batshit though, having imaginary conversations is a bit wrong.
[quote]
I used to work with a lady that would not only talk to herself almost constantly, but would have arguments with herself.

ie:
Let's have a ham roll for lunch
But we had one yesterday
well, I feel like one today too!
Too much ham isn't good for us!
I LIKE Ham
Fine, whatever you want!

You would also get told of for interrupting her conversations.

Nothing wrong with it imo... I have conversations in my head all the time*

Sometimes I vocalise them sometimes I don't....

*Will be posthumously published as The Dialogues of Gummi_Bear :>
[quote]
I talk, sing, hum, shout and mumble to myself out loud and internally all the time
I talk to my computers and certain other possessions too

I shout at the interwebs quite often to

*shakes fist*
[quote]
I talk to myself constantly in my head, but it slips out occasionally.

I also think I might sing out loud sometimes.. I'm always listening to music with headphones and try to mime along to the words but sometimes people look at me funny and I always wonder whether I'm accidentally vocalising the lyrics heh.
[quote]
Talking TOO things doesn't count - I chat to my scooter, cats, the dog, the printer and my computers all the time...

it makes them work better, I swear!
[quote]
I find sometimes that vocalizing thoughts in my head gives me a new perspective on it. Ideas can sound fuckin awesome in my head but as soon as I vocalise it, it sounds fuckin batshit crazy then I know not to share it with other people... Razz

I constantly spew mind farts regarding how the blasted rebels got their hands on the plans for the Death Star, and why that goddam thermal exhaust port wasnt boarded up. How could the Emperor let the silly Bothan's get this sensitive information!! HOW?!!

That's what my mum says!

No wait...

Damn I really should have said that out loud first.... Sad

Not out loud. But i have a constant narrative streaming through my head at all times. It gives me a headache!

I also replay conversations, and create possible future conversations, in my head.

I'm just laughing at how unorganized the Galactic Empire are.
[quote]
I suppose the Emperor has a lot on his mind, Jono reckons it has something to do with downsizing, and profit margins. He has a lot of systems to look after.
[quote]
meh, that's just excuses! as Galactic Emperor of course he is going to have a lot to look after! Maybe he needs to hire more Generals and cut back on the micromanagement and school-yard bully antics?

Those problems were probably caused because he killed off his Generals too often and the quick turn around of management let things slip through the gaps (pun intended).
[quote]
See, he has an adolescent 7ft asthmatic killing all of his key workers, no wonder the place is a bit chaotic. I think there could be some trust issues.
[quote]
that's what she said Wink
[quote]
She said you have trust issues, or your a 7ft asthmatic force choking everyone?
[quote]
all of the above Sad
[quote]
yeah, but only to the normal levels described here...

What I find interesting is the disconnect sometimes between thoughts I have and the inability to verbalise them sometimes, like I thought about them without words. Anyone do that?

I think everyone does this...and most of the time its a complete fkn waste of time, and even counter productive. Ive been trying real hard to quit it, only just over the past year though. Not very successfully either, stupid conflict seeking internal dialouge! Mad
[quote]
Sometimes I ask myself questions and then answer them aloud. Is that weird?

The thing about my posting style (not always, sometimes I have a very real and solid opinion) is I like to type away to see what and how it will come out. Then I enjoy taking a position and just seeing what will come of it. To me, reality can be very malleable.

weirdos
[quote]
Who us?
Yes us...
Is that weird?
Someone thinkses so...
Shall we internalize this predicament?
Yessss we shallssss....

Are you asking the question out loud too? Sometimes thats ok, if you're musing something, its easier to figure things out if you talk it out.
[quote]
Oh yeah ask it aloud as well. In all seriousness I don't see anything wrong with it. Things become more clear if they are vocalised sometimes.

General chatter to one's self is more of a lack of internal censor more than anything else imo, because everyone has internal chatter, it just sometimes comes out Razz
[quote]
I like to sing along to gangsta rap in weird voices I make up .. like lily allen accent.. does that count or is that just weird.. mostly in the car.
[quote]
Constantly, I will sometimes verbalise what I'm doing to no one in particular, right down to minute details such as 'Ctrl - F - D - A', talk to inanimate objects a lot too 'You are computer, I am Jono, stop disobeying me!', like yak I also get carried away listening to music in my headphones and sometimes below out lines at full volume.

DON'T YOU WANT ME BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty sure that's awesome. I do something similar, stupid voices to popular songs to make myself crack up.
[quote]
Oh when I'm studying I talk to myself hard core. It helps me learn!
[quote]
I do talk to myself, especially at work when I'm trying to work out something... then I usually clap and go "YAAAY". People look at me like I'm some kind of weirdow. It probably doesn't help my cause that my work is stupidly quiet.

I was reading my study notes out loud and recording my them onto my ipod to listen back to.. I was hoping if I listened to them while I was sleeping they would seep into my subconscious and spill out magically.. yeah didn’t work too well.. ..

Same, it may be to do with having an auditory learning style
[quote]
Active vs passive learning imo.

Haha yes! I do this heaps, usually doing renditions of rock songs in a crooner style.

BTW: If Michael Buble ever did a cover of Shihad - La La Land, it would totally kick ass! Razz

Crooner style is the best style.
