Holy shit.

This has to be some sort of black magic.

Q: Is it possible with Direct Note Access to change individual notes in existing multi-voice (polyphonic) audio recordings e.g. to turn a major chord into a minor?

A: Yes. That’s exactly what Direct Note Access makes possible. You can take a piano or guitar recording, for example, and change any note you wish – even if it forms part of a chord. And the sound is of the highest Melodyne quality!

Amazing technology however like autotune it's best used very sparingly.

Yep, saw this about a year ago. Is it out yet?
I know there was a bunch of drama trying to get it out.

Sounds a hell of a lot better than autotune to me Future One!

In fact I suppose it's just more advanced autotune really isn't it.

And yeah, out.

Many people thought it was Vapourware for a long time.

I wonder how good it would be trying to seperate highly distorted guitars. All the examples Ive heard have been clean or acoustic.

i dont actually understand why people want this at all

if you are sitting at a guitar, make guitar music (and how about practising until you fucking well get it right huh?)

you are sitting on a computer, make fucking computer music

*directed at nobody here =)

You heard what Burial can do with a pitch shifter on a voice?

he sat at a computer and made computer music (in soundforge no less)... yeah i have

Yes, and a lot of electronic music involves taking 'sampled' sound, and twisting the hell out of them.

While I am sure a lot of people will just use it to correct 'bad' playing, you could conceivably, use it to turn an environmental sound, into a chord, for example..
[quote]
yeah, i do understand utilising the perversion of soft/hard-ware for unintended effect... it is rather just hindering and dumbing down the capabilities of the digital environment

One of the big things I can see it being used alot for is changing modes and major/minors etc..

Your in the studio, your guitarist has just split, you wanna try and changing that d minor to a d maj.
Or change his solo or progression from mixolydian to phrygian etc..

It's pretty cool, but yeah I could see being championed the lazy or incompetant.
