DJ T-ROCK & SHORTFUSE: SOME OF THE FASTEST HANDS IN TURNTABLISM PERFORM AT FU
DJ Shortfuse and DJ T-Rock possess some of the fastest hands in the business – In fact their hands are so valuable they have their own insurance policies! DJ T-Rock was recently voted as one of the top 5 hip hop DJ’s in the world in an internet poll at www.thedjlist.com, and on Friday March 11 T-Rock and label mate Shortfuse will perform their turntable wizadry at FU as part of their nationwide tour.
What sets T-Rock apart from other scratch DJ’s is his style. He cuts hip hop beats with classic rock beats – his style is not only modern it’s ‘classic’. T-Rock has headlined many ‘Bomb Hip Hop’ tours throughout the States and Europe, and while his main focus is that of a solo artist and performer, he was recently invited by the respected DJ Shadow to work on a forthcoming DJ Shadow and T-Rock music collaboration.
T-Rocks’ latest release ‘Rock & Squash Techniques’, released in NZ this month, features the b-net radio hit ‘Mama Said Wear You Out’; A collaboration between Atlanta MC / Producer Squashy Nice and T-Rock.
Joining DJ T-Rock is Canadian DJ Shortfuse. A seasoned veteran in the turntablist community, he has wooed crowds for over 8 years with his unique style.
Part of San Francisco’s ‘Bomb Hip Hop’ label, (whose stable of artists include the cream of global turntablist talent), Shortfuse is a ‘wanted man’ in the scratch DJ scene. Armed with the ultimate in battle tools and weaponry Fuse’s turntable skill’s appear nothing short of unbelievable.
DJ Shortfuse commented recently about what we can expect from the Shortfuse and T-Rock live ‘show’:
“…Me and T-Rock mix it up hardcore, lots of rock, breaks, beats, a little metal, some 80's. I mean basically you never really quite know what to expect on any given evening. People will love the party rockin’ styles with a side of turntablism to keep all the scratch nerds happy....We play sets that are built to rock a party! By this I mean not your regular ‘party type’ set either. Our set is not all routines and stuff like so many other scratch DJ’s out there. We stopped doing the ‘full routine type set’ years ago because it just kills the crowd. Leave that stuff for the in store demo’s and such – Know what I mean?!â€
â€â€¦. What we love to do is rock jam’s with mad flavour, not your jiggy stupid stuff, but stuff full of cuts, breaks and mixed in a party rockin’ style!â€
Prepare yourself for a DJ experience you won’t want to stop talking about!
