DJ Marky has blazed a trail from his homeland of Brazil to the U.K and now right across the globe with his phenomenal skills at the decks and on point production.
DJ Marky’s junglist journey began in his hometown of Sao Paolo Brazil, where he fused traditional Brazilian flavors with his love of drum and bass.
Voted Brazilian DJ of the Year in 95, 96 and 99 he pioneered this sound in his homeland as resident DJ at the now legendary VIBE club night. On his first visit as an unknown DJ at legendary U.K club night MOVEMENT he was asked to play an unscheduled second set, such was his brilliant fusion of sound, personality & vision.
Marky soon released the ‘Brazilain Job’, described as the “best drum and bass dj mix ever†(DJ Magazine), firmly cementing his talents behind the decks.
He then turned his hand at production, quickly winding up on Bryan G’s V Recordings, unleashing the groundbreaking Brazil E.P that spawned the Massive ‘LK’, penetrating the U.K top 40 and launching a worldwide fascination with everything Marky had to offer.
Appearances on TOP of the Pops beckoned along with sold out shows across Europe, Asia & the US. Marky was soon back at the dials, launching his own Innerground label and dropping heavyweight grooves on C.I.A, Full Cycle, and Soul:R, collaborating with George Clinton, Bebel Gilberto, Cleveland Watkiss Breeze, Vikter Duplaix, along with the best dnb MC’s in the scene.
Joined by DJ Marky is his long time associate & friend, MC Stamina...
MC Stamina started in ’94, his love of jungle leading him to his position today. Writing lyrics for fun, Stamina soon realized he had a good feel for it.
In 2000, making regular appearances for Movement, his trademark vocal expressions became a main ingredient and he met Brazilian DJs Marky and Patife and XRS Land..
His vocal remixing came to a head in 2001 – crowds kept asking for a tune called ‘It’s The Way’ – a version of LK with Stamina singing that hadn’t even been recorded! When released it propelled up UK charts.
A DJ’s MC – Stamina utilizes both MC and straight singing styles without resorting to shouting, an ability to compliment any tune in any way – naturally building a rapport with audiences.
In 2002 he hosted an 11,000 capacity arena for 11 hours establishing him in Brazil then performing at the Peace Parade for 1 million people!
In support will be local lads NATO and PAKAGE, both of whom are no strangers to laying down the law here at COHERENT. Joining them, for his debut performance here will be D-DOG, a respected DJ/producer hailing from Wellington.
Any way you look at it, the music will be served up and you shall be the guest of honor.
