Well its not very hi-tech , but in the weekend I bought a Sony discman that plays mp3's for $150
I'm travelling for 6 weeks and couldnt stand the thought of being without personal music.
Its very good - using mp3 I can cram about 10 albums on to a CD. The LCD reads the mp3 tags so you can select by folders etc
They have software which can convert your audio CD's into a propritary format called ATRAC3 but I can be assed , mp3's work fine Smile
Oh and I suppsedly get 60 hours play off 2 AA batteries - sweet !

damn peat, where did you get this marvel from? what brand is it? does it come with a car kit?

/me is looking for a discman for the car at present

Minidisk players are worth a look too - because they only spin up the (small) disk for a few seconds to read the whole track the battery lasts ages.

You can get diskmans like the one described above at almost any consumer electronics store. If you want a really high quality diskman/mp3 player, try iRiver ones at http://www.iriver.com

Nice work peat, it's a pretty cheap deal you got, I found Discman with MP3 play back a good substitute to the more expensive MP3 players around the market, one CD can roughly hold 150 songs, which is quite a lot for any one day Smile

Ta peat, I'll go find a Bond and Bond and check it out Smile

Commando, mini-disc players are a good option in general but for me an Mp3 discman is better and cheaper

Yeah that's a good deal man.. I bought one from the USA 2 years ago & paid $400 NZ fot it !
I work in the bush so it's had bit of a hard life, I play it most days for 6-8 hrs & it's never missed a beat..untill the last 2 weeks Crying or Very sad it's just started to skip on some tracks ( I use cd-rw 's ).
But I've had good value for money out of it.

So I'm on the look out for another one....will check out Bond & Bond here in Roto-vagas
