There is a turntable that uses five lasers to read the groove without ever touching it. It remains fully analogue.

The problem is it costs between 8 and 14 grand (US).

i wonder how long the current medium of cd's, dvd's will last for ???

would be useful for ripping ya vinyl to digital formats

(for backup purposes of course).

Someone figured out a way of scanning a record (ie in an image scanner) and then using software to extract the audio from the image. Was crap quality though.
