its a mid level club only holds about 2000, but your sound is perfect for where we are trying to take our clientele!

I am glad to hear you like it. This weekend would be a bit soon. What I would be interested in doing is setting up a future date, maybe a month away and I could send you about 600 cds with your clubs name and the date of the show and time, with my info on it and then you could pass out the cds as flyers for 3 weeks before the show. This would guarantee a lot of people to come out. So If you want to set something like that up then yeah I would come out and play. If you think you can go through more than 600 cds then let me know I can probably get you up to about 2000-3000 of them in advance. Its cool.. I get it.. I am not trying to be a rockstar so I am not sure why you guys would want to make fun of me.. but its cool.. I will leave your superstar message forum alone.. there are other ways of doing what you guys did. Next time maybe you guys should take a different approach. Not all of us are dickheads or douches, maybe if you stopped looking down on other people such as myself, you might find that there are other genuine people out there.

There's also other ways of getting gigs around the world than asking strangers on a message board to hand your CDs out at parties in cities they probably couldn't identify on a map.

Some use an agent and approach reputable promoters in the city where said DJ intends to play.

Others build a following from the ground up, gaining a cult following via credibility gained from online mixes and rocking parties in their local area.

The scatter-gun approach on random forums rarely works.

I don't think people are looking down their noses, purely taken aback by the scatter-gun approach to sniffing out a gig.

I wasnt asking for a gig. I was actually just trying to find a couple people who might listen to the mix and like it. I have a lot of people already helping pass out cds(not so many in this country) and this is how I met them. I posted a new mix and they hit me up because they liked it. I asked if they would be cool with passing out some cds and sometimes they say yes. I dont feel that I did anything wrong, I have posted on this board a few times over the last year and got a pretty good response and never had any problems with people tearing me down for offering up a free mix.

Thanks bob... I am only trying to make some new friends. I am not trying to blow up your forums with spam messages ... I usually only post a new mix up about every 2 to 3 months. My next mix is gonna be a Prodigy mixology that I only used prodigy tracks on and so far its coming out really good so hopefully I wont get as much grief for posting it...lol

you might get some stick from proof whose done a prodigy mix in the past...

Digitalbil - you realise we already have dance music in NZ?... Electro was considered crap almost a year ago. (albeit a year too late, if not more)

I do realize that you have dance music there already that is why I thought my post would be welcomed. Did you take a few minutes and check it out and hate it or something? I wasnt trying to offend or piss anyone off. Its not all electro by any means, its breaks, house, trance, and some electro. In fact why dont you(Rob W) write a review and tear it apart for me. Its just going to make me a better producer because I will actually listen to what you have to say about it, and I always welcome some harsh feedback(haters make me stronger because they make me pay attention to what I need to do to become better). In fact check it out and then tell me how much i suck or how bad the track selection was or how much I cant mix or any number of other reasons that you can come up with as to why it doesnt sound good(tell me that my reverses sound horrible). I am open to some harsh criticism.

maybe I have this mislabled because you are mentioning electro(as in miami breaks which I also do not like either.. and feel that it went out of style way longer than a year or two ago.. in my opinion it went out about 4 years ago) I am referring to electro house.. I have it set up for preview so that you dont have to waste any precious hard drive space yet you still get to have your option of saying that you heard it and didnt like it.. I got into this debate with an electro forum and they made me change it to electro house just so that it wouldnt confuse their listeners.. good music is good music.. when I think of a dj I think of it as I am trusting that I like his specific taste regardless of what genre it is. I have heard house djs spin drum and bass and I found that it was their taste in music that I was really digging.. that is why I dig carl cox, it seems like everything he mixes sounds amazing even though he crosses genres and sometimes even into certain genres(like minimal) that I wouoldnt normally like

I'm not going to check out the music though as it appears you have electro house versions of Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga in your mix and I'd rather avoid ever hearing something like that if I could.

As Websta says, this forum gets spammed with crap daily and it annoys the regulars who actually take the time to post here. I would suggest you spend a little more time judging the prevailing tastes and tone of forums before posting your stuff, I think you may have misjudged this one a bit. I can imagine a forum of purist electro fans wouldn't receive something like this very well either.

It was me, I went to his house, hog tied him to his parents trailer (Im up for unreasonable force charges now) and subjected him to a 48 hour Crydamoure special (clockwork orange style).

True - although, me deleting a post achieves very little - as the next person along will do the same thing - threads like this hopefully point out to people that taking the time to find out who is regularly involved in this forum, and the sort of thing that goes on.

1. If you talk to us regularly, people wont jump your throat. We get spammed to all fuck and it's annoying. Most just gets deleted by myself and Proof

2. Electro House died some time ago and this forum is particularly cynical of remixes of pop tunes

3. Have a listen to some of the other mixes available in this forum, you'll figure peoples tastes in here, but remember, the rest of cool kids in Auckland hate us too

"Breaks" is short for "New School Breaks" so it's not the same thing. Full respect to the old school.

i honestly have no idea...
in reality I'm not that sure how battle breaks fit in either; but in terms of breakbeat that's how the story goes.
then, it's mostly my bias for breakbeat that i feel that way. The best thing about that music style is that it encompasses every fathomable other kind of musical style. DJ shadow spends about three 10 hour days a week in a small warehouse stacked full of old vinyl's looking for breaks and samples. then makes awesome music.

I have always been told, a "Breakbeat" was any beat sampled (usually from old funk/jazz records) and then
"broken" up into slices, so the beat could be rearranged or played back at different tempos without a pitch/key change.

Anyway, it all sucks, cause house is better.

Turns out that it was disco djs doing that first, a dude called Walter Gibbons was the first. He used bongo loops and drum breaks back and forth predating the hiphoppers by a few years.
