interested to see how it will marketed. will it be aimed towards the house scene, its venue sugests to me that it may be. i guess its suport dj's may hint at this. he was wicked at fu last time, he did play for the crowd though.

Yeah really enjoyed it at fu.

Dunno if I will go again though - lots of good stuff coming up soon. Especially if hes gonna be targeting the house market.

Beds a good room, its excellently ventilated, it has good sound and lighting, its spotlessly clean
and the management are right on the ball.
Its a party environment and thats what we're up for...

Hey WWW, I agree with you, I think it will depend who is promoting and what they would like him to concentrate on. The techno D May plays can slip in and out of house, and it will most likely be determined by the mood of the crowd in the end.

And yeah mikew, Herzog was just beautiful venue, and I sorely miss it, except for that bastard lumpy floor, I think this time it will be a ripper with D May playing.

Anyone know who is promoting? Spooky, Lightspeed?

i came across an email about this event.
there was a line that just had me in stitches.
it read: "derrick may is followed by the unphaseable matt drake, the only man in town up to the task of coming on after derrick".
im not at all questioning matts ability nor talent, i think he is a good dj.
there are though many dj's who are equaly able to take up the challange of playing to a crowd who are exiting after seeing the main act. i think its quite insulting to them to just brush them aside with such an wittless and rather unjust coment.
this is derrick may. he doesnt nead hype.
this is just the sort of thing that creates resentment in this ever fickle techno scene.
the scene is small enough as it is without pushing more ppl out of the picture.
i know this may seem trivial to some but it is insulting to others.
after the last hardsoul the last thing you wanna do is turn ppl off the idea of going to the next one.

It is trivial but also relevent.
Could so easily have been worded differently without risking waves.
Who wrote it? Was it a public or private email? Curious.
I would like to see miles kuen and mike geddes get a bit more lime light. They have done their dues as a regular support role.

I got that email - its from the AREA, so..What happened at the last hardsoul that makes "techno" people so sensitive about a bit of harmless hype, and wtf has that got to do with Derrick May?

update on last hardsould... fuck all people attended (flyers only came out a few days before event) 6 wicked techno dj's on the line up with hardly any crowd to please... the last people to play were Mike G and Vanja playing back to back - played for 30minutes then were asked to stop and pack up for the nite by the bar staff... bummer

i guess bobcrane if you read it from a diff perspective then it doesnt realy matter. most peeps probebly wont think much off it either. at the end of the day i realize i dont have all that much in common with the scene except for musical taste. that alone i guess doesnt realy warrent all the fuse and bother.
