So my new car has a whole dash integrated stereo, gps, tv, aircon thing and it was going to be a bit of a mission getting a replacement dash to fit a normal stereo plus id lose the steering wheel controls.
So to play the ipod i went for one of these. http://www.dension.com/index.php?pageID=32 Possibly a bit on the expensive side (a bit over $500) but for the cost of the alternative it seemed like a good idea.
Very happy and can recommend them. The Car stereo see it as a second cd changerand depending on which cd you are on it it lets you select playlists, albums, artists or tracks. As it works through the ipod dock rather than the jack it turns off the ipod when youre not using it.
Also works with (and charges) my iphone and even mutes the stereo when i get a call.
