Needs to go on the WAN side of our pfsense router box so it's not actually going to be doing fuck all work apart from the ADSL2 connection and forwarding everything to the router. Don't need wireless, needs to be stable.

Any suggestions? I've been reliably informed that the US Robotics SureConnect 9107 is quite the go for exactly my use case, but I can no longer find any local vendors that look remotely trustworthy, so open to suggestions now.

Help?

Never mind, our current one flaked out even more so I had to just go grab one.

Went for Linksys AG300.

This one also has lights, but it's heavily outnumbered by more than 2 to 1 by it's neighbour.

Right, turns out this is actually a piece of shit too, so it's going back. Any other suggestions?

Cisco 857. By the time it breaks, no one will be using dsl anymore

Thing that concerns me is when it says " Recommended Number of Users: 10"

I assume that means incoming VPN users? Or what?

That and I suspect it's still not going to give us as many features as we have now.

All I want is a straight up modem that won't shit itself every 30 mins :/

Also, appears to be ADSL1 only? Confused

Our Linksys AG241 has always been sweet. One of the purple Linksys ones.

You sure its not Orcon giving you the fuck around?

Hmmm actually AG300 looks like the successor to the AG241. Sad

It doesn't really take more than 10 users to max out any dsl line. What kind of environment are we talking?

Also it's definitely 2+.

I'm staying well away from linksys at the moment, problems with every new piece of linksys (and dell) hardware I've used recently.

I've been somewhat impressed with netgear recently.

Dynalink RTA1320 has been the best one for me so far. Stays connected for months at a time and never crashes.

We've been running far more than that for many years. 80 odd machines, minimum 15, up to 25 users browsing at once. It's a school. Everything is behind a caching proxy server/router as well, which does all the heavy work. Sadly something that pricey will have to wait till next year, budget is pretty much gone this year.

PD: It's a possibility, have spoken to them today, but also switched back to the previous modem and it's actually been far more stable. Still not ideal since it likes to lock up frequently.

I will have a chat with boys from our Operations team and let ya know dude. Smile

Ok so few suggestions:

Linsys AM300

Dynalink RTA1320

Basically anything Cisco or Thompson is highly regarded by our techs.

Also, he said to stay away from D-Link and Netgear (support for them is crap, operantly).

I hope this helps.
