Tomorrow, after 12 years living in this fine city I'll be moving south, possibly never to return (permanently).
So a bit of a quick note to reflect on people, places and 'stuff'.
When I first came here I thought Welly was a shit hole. Then I realised that Johnsonville was NOT part of Wellington, so I moved into town.
Wellington has given me my fair share of delightful moments/themes/thingos and not-so-delightful ones. Lets start with the best, in no particular order.
# Bachelor Padding it up in Aro Valley. Highlight was definitely the partial lunar eclipse. 2am and there were people howling like wolves across the suburb. Only in Aro.
# My 1st night on it. Think this was new years '98 down at the queens wharf. Special. I think there's a photo floating around with me n my 2 flatmates in a portaloo, not doing anything in particular. Classic stuff.
# Meeting 'gay' people. Weird, I know, but they're actually quite nice, so long as they're not trying to fock you in the ass. I recall a flat we had 4 people living there, me (straight guy), straight girl, lesbian & gay guy. Quite the mix. Highlight was walking in on the flattie who'd picked up one of the top twins. We talked tractors for the next 1/2 hr. Choice.
# People (not gay). They're cool. Wellington has this beautiful 'culture' of transients who couldn't leave. I have been one for a while. The people are most of what makes this city. And the majority of you live here, so I guess that means you aiiiight too.
# Coffee. No need to explain this. But today I did discover that Havana doesn't have any outlets using their fine beans in Queenstown. Gutted. Anyone wanna go shares in a cafe down there?
# The weather. I have a theory that shit weather makes people get on better. Its a benefit. Consistently warm weather breeds corruption and mistrust. Wellington makes people appreciate glorious sunny still days like no other city in the world.
more stuff, but I have to pack...
Bad stuff. Nah fock it, there ain't any really. Take care all
