Anyone else heard his new tune 'The Space Dance' which went up on Beatport this week? One of the mixes is pretty mad... def a new direction for him - no more of the trademark rhythms and link back to soulful styles... but def a quirky piece of work.

Aside from that, he's completed his new compilation for Tommyboy Records too which will be released soon.. Haven't seen much in the way of mixes from him for a while.

Heh, i wonder if he will break it out on the terrace @ space this summer Laughing

Hey yeah heard it.

I think you've summed it up pretty well right there in saying its a quirky piece of work. Sounds really fresh. I'm digging the jacking feel.. Personally find it slightly challenging to get comfortable with, despite being pretty open minded about what he's done...

Which is what i really enjoyed in his previous work or 95% of his tracks .. that mood and twisted yet smooth precussion feel can grab attention of listeners in the most comfortable manners.

Yeah.. when 'Bottom Heavy' first came out everyone was like W.T.F.?.. and that was in about 1994.. and then the same again with 'Elements' in 98.. and then on a totally different tip with 'Turn Me On' again. Gotta hand it to him, plenty of the east coast guys are way way way overrated (Peter Rauhofer anyone?) but Danny has done the damage so many times you can't count him out even after all these years.

Yea,

Cool tune but not realy me. I'm sure there will be plenty that dig it tho.

Anyone on the Remix Rob?

I likes it...from the samples anyways...still kinda has that percussive/tribal feel to it really.

The compilation will be the eye opener I think for many... Def some cool tunes on there. TBA soon.Wink

what do you think of the Phunk investigation mix of ' Bottom Heavy' personally, I really dig it, but have had heard a few mixed reviews.
[quote]
Not really into that mix of Bottom Heavy to be honest. Altho heard it played at Zouk, Singapore in November and it sounded amazing. Altho almost anything would on that sound system.

On that note.. a ten hour Tenaglia set - which actually is one of his sets for a change - is doing the rounds I see.

No. He plays Sydney electro but says he plays tech-house cause it's cooler.

Does it seem like a lot of genres really seem to be collapsing in on themselves at the moment?

Just a musing to myself while driving to work this morning...

Could be, not sure... Every genre has it's sweet spot and its fringes. I usually enjoy the fringe tunes in most genres - ones which cross over (a cliche I know).

I love tribal for example - fanatically so - but I've never been a fan of Chus & Ceballos (or Stereo Recordings) at all despite them being considered by many as the tribal crew. I also love deep house but have never listened to an Inland Knights tune which didn't send me to sleep - yet I love Nina Simone remixes and Joe Claussell. I love funky vocal house but think Defected/Azuli are two of the crappest labels out there (singles-wise), yet listening to ten year old Jody Watley and Michael Watford tunes make my day bliss. Go figure.

Genre's collapsing? Probably.. but makes little/no difference to me, nor should it anyone who loves a sound.

Picked this up the other day, was actually hunting out Satoshi's new Master Series mix, but the store didn't have it, but they did have Futurism on the shelves...first couple of listens I was a little "meh" towards it...but now, holy hell this mix fucking rocks man!!! Chugging, techy tribal badness!!! Must have!

Funny you mention that. This tune was singled out in a couple of reviews as being, ummm.., not exactly the best track in the Futurism comp. Much harsher words were written. I haven't had a listen to this tune other than quickly on the comp.

Laughing Really? I fucking love it! BTW, from samples on meatport, it's the Padded Cell Mix but track listing doesn't state that.
