you also seem to have missed all the talk pre match about sri lankas undercooked middle order and what an unknown quantity they were due to very little crease time in pool matches. And lo and behold after SL's top 4 were removed things slowed down drastically

It seems weird that you're claiming this stat as being in your view's favour, when the only reason the lower-middle order has had little crease-time is exactly because the top 4 have been scoring so many runs. Twice they've had a 200 opening stand, and when Jayawardene did get to actually bat he snuck in a century, Sangakkara got close too before the rain against Aussie. They were always set to destroy any target we set them,

and we rolled out all 4 of them for 169, other than against pakistan that's the cheapest those 4 have been removed for in the tournament

Pechora said:
and obviously they were going to slow down drastically when they could. They were going at a decent clip until they lost wickets, and then slowed down because why risk it? That really says nothing about how they would've performed if they needed to get more runs.

What i'm saying is there ability to perform under pressure was an unknown quantity. We will never know because we didn't have them under pressure because SL's bowlers contained our top order then smashed our tail. The pressure would have been on around the 40th over if they were chasing more runs, as they weren't it was like death by a 1000 cuts until 5 wides and a few lollipops from Ryder were graciously accepted.

We're not bunnies, the pitch wasn't that bad, and SL aren't the best bowling attack in the world either.

As said man, many times - this is where your view diverts, right at the start.

When it comes to playing spin, we are probably the worst test playing nation in the world. Time and time again we have shown ourselves to be inept at playing spin, and last night it was evident that even our best player (of spin, Styris) wasn't able to read what was going on. This, coupled with the fact that Sri Lanka have *the* best spin attack in ODI cricket right now, and could easily have eeked out 40 over of top quality spin meant that we just simply were not capable of what you're suggesting. The pitch wasn't 'bad' but it was conducive to spin - sticky on top and a little bit of variable bounce... perfect really.

Now, *you* think this is not a good response because you think we're capable of better, but no one else agrees so you're never going to get a response that you want, and no amount of trying to shout everyone else down with your flawed assertions will change that.

Cool

Haha nah wasn't even thinking about that. I just prefer SL as a team, always liked them really. They don't really get involved in the politics much; never really hear them being dicks in the media. They just play their game and have real class

vs. the Indian Cricket Board, which has destroyed world cricket?
...
[quote]
India, bar Tendulkar, are the most disgusting pack of spoiled brats in world cricket atm -- right up there with Australia who've lost a lot of their smugness over the last year or so. And fuck the BCCI for holding world cricket to ransom.

Can't BELIEVE you boys are throwing your lot in with that bunch Neutral

Ranatunga, for all his faults, is a legend for refusing to lay down to Australia when they were at their peak.

Murali is also fkn legend who will go down as one of the most gracious sportsmen of our generation.
[quote]
Hmmmm unlikely! Everyone knows what a nervy psycho Murali is. He's well liked because he can be quite cheery, but he's also pretty fucken crazy. Plus the cricket world is still divided... you still catch hints from many commentators that they aren't fans, it's just that nobody really wants to talk about it any more because it's pointless.

gracious! Laughing

Did you see him doing his nut at a dropped catch just a few days ago? As smf says he's a clear nutjob, and he HAS to be gracious anyway. he's like the dog who keeps his head down cos he knows he's not supposed to be inside the house

Lol. All bowlers react like that to dropped or missed catches in a semi final.

I got a gig on but I'll record it, I don't really care who wins as long as it's a good game and not a one sided affair like the last world cup final.
[quote]
imo the reason why he went so psycho about that catch specifically is because the first ball of the same over someone dropped a sitter off him as well and they'd already dropped a few others in the innings
