ARSE!

massive delays/stuttering on brush strokes.

Added a scratch disk and other bits but still not substantially better. Its a decent computer quad core 4 gigs ram etc.

I now see there are a heap of posts about it on forums.

Ah weird. I see why you asked in the lounge thread.

My computer specs are modest now, AMD4800+, 2gb, Nividea 8600 (I think, or was it a 9600... is there a 9600??).

Had no problems, but I might check it again when I get home.

It looks like you cannot get an updated RAW converter for CS3 and have to buy CS4 to be able to use raw 5.2 which is used in new cameras including canon 5dmkII and canon g10.

I found you need to open bridge, do adjustments then open into photoshop and save if you save straight from bridge the file size is smaller.
without cs4 you would have to convert before using with photoshop lossing quality.

After spending around $1700 mid year for CS3 web design package there is no way I could afford the cost of upgrading or replacing on top of the price of a new 5d any time soon.
I've use bridge and photoshop all the time but have not touched any wewb design stuff yet.

Bob, check if OpenGL acceleration is turned on. If not, try turning it on, if that doesn't help leave it on but turn off all advanced features. If OpenGL acceleration is already on try turning it off. Of course make sure you have the latest graphics drivers. Check if your video card is supported, there's a list somewhere on the adobe site.

Overall I like CS4. CS4 Bridge is far far better than CS3 bridge, and i'm slowly getting used to Photoshop CS4. Not a fan of the adjustment panel, it steals space. Also the fit image script is broken, it doesn't work properly within actions.

MC1, to use 5DII files inside CS3 get the free adobe dng converter, convert your raw files to dng, then open them in CS3. You don't lose information, as I understand it it's still RAW and in the original format, it just adds metadata describing the raw format. Or use DPP.
