With Sinclairs previous experience that would be a fair call, it could be a tougher one between Nevin and McCullum. He has still not had regularly batting performances at international level whereas Nevin has.

Sure McCullum needs batting practise, but his skills behind the stumps yestaday were first class

Agreed D-Man. Did anyone see how well Nevin Played in Wellingtons game over the weekend? The selectors have a hard job on their hands.

Nevin is unreliable behind the stumps... And he's from Wellington, and quite frankly you can't trust a Wellingtonian to play sport (although I'm living in, and proud of what a nice city Wellington is). Last time Nevin was given a chance he had a couple of good innings batting, then sucked from there on in... He's entirely a useless wicket keeper. McCullum needs a lot of practice, but he deserves to be in the team based on his ability keeping.

What about Kyle Mills, Maestro? - He's played and bowled very well, and must be in with a chance of going instead of Styris or Hitchcock. Sure Styris is more experienced, and Hitchcock is a better bowler - But Styris is way out of form and Hitchcock has little experience.

I'd go with your team, but would replace Styris with Mills.

I haven't been able to find the list of the 30 players considered for selection though - Anyone know where that can be found?

Was interested to see Martin Crowes preferred WC squad selected before the Indian tour started. Basically he has gone for proven experience before current form.

Only averages 23 in ODI's and is struggling badly with the gloves though

Nah - Mills action is nowhere near as suspect as Brett Lee's action, or Shoaib Akhtar's - so no one would mention him at the world cup.

There is no way you can drop Harris - he's our best feilder, and is a guaranteed ten overs of opressive middle-pace bowling that can slow any team down... And how many times has he been left to carry the batting and win games for us? It'd be rude to drop him now.

If anyone is going to miss out, it's Styris. Keep in mind that someone in the team will probably injure themselves before the world cup starts, and then they can be replaced.... And the replacement will likely be Styris.

There is no place for Nevin in the team - he can't bat, he can hardly keep - McCullum can keep really well, and bat quite well... Same with Vincent, there just isn't a vacancy for him.

Seems the only reason they keep Flem in the team is for his top leadership of the BlackCaps. Not that he is a bad catcher in the slips either

McMillan showed his abilities today, he's just been out of form - That happens to all players from time to time.

Flemming has been out of touch for a very long time though, and possibly it's time to let someone else, like McMillan or Cairns or Vettori captain the team.

Or else he could be made 12th man, and if he were positioned next to the boundary he could yell feilding placement instructions to the "Captain" on the feild (it's not illegal)

they wouldnt change captians this close to the world cup, but if fleming doesnt get any form back in the remaining 4 odi's against india, or in the world cup, i dont see him having a long future in the black caps one day team after the world cup

They should keep Fleming as captain, but he's really going to need to score some runs in the next ODI's. I think he'l get a good kick up the arse after his poor innings yesterday.

You guys are off your rockers about Fleming though, his value to the team goes way beyond his batting average.

The anti-Fleming sentiment I think comes more from frustration with him, because with his ability he really should be scoring more runs

i know there are others out there, but lee has sorted his shit out and akthar is a freak of nature... mills has no excuse, throwing down 125kph with a bent arm. its almost as bad as muralitharans action. these people are bringing disgrace to the rules..........

if you have even a remotely dodgey action you should be out of there. period. no second chances.

He's not chucking anything like Brett Lee or Akthar, who quite frankly simply throw the ball.

His arm bends back a lot in his delivery stride, then it looks a little like a chuck sometimes when he releases it.

No one will even bat an eyelid about his action at the world cup.

I agree with the Fleming sentiment he does have a high value to the team. This is the first year we have seen the nucleus of the team spread further than Canterbury. But as an ex Cantab Fleming knows Astle Macca Cairns Harry Bondy inside out as well as having a similar affinity with the other old heads in the side. It would be nice if we stopped seeing the letter c next to his name at the end of play but he is still a class batsman when he keeps his head and settles in.
