Cricket Rankings

Surely these must now be recognised as completely irrelevant. If England win today, they will be #2 ODI side in the world, gained thru a single series. The same side that was comprehensively dealt to by NZ in back to back series earlier this year.

Obviously, the rankings need to take account for single series where one side gets a psychological edge over another for the series. England may well have solved their ODI issues, but it's equally likely they'll go back to losing as soon as this series has finished.

Worst ODI series I have seen SA play since they came back to International cricket. There was just no guts from anyone ... not sure wtf happenend but they did not turn up. Wonder if they were just happy with the Test victory and thats it.

ICC rankings is fine and has been working well.

How would that work

I think the rankings are pretty much fine, people are always going to differ in their opinions on the weighting on results etc. Not sure how on earth you could include psychological edge in there tho

The simple tweak would be you get slightly less points for beating the same side in successive matches.

Let alone all the results of the other teams in the 2nd-5th range, if you can be bothered ....lay them all out and lets haggle

look at rating points, not just the number.
