Contents/Travel Insurance in London

So I'm trying to figure out whether it is worth getting contents insurance while I'm here in London...does anyone have it and can recommend anyone to go through? Is it very expensive?

Also, I've heard of the travel insurance that you can get which lasts a year and doesn't seem overly expenisve. Has anyone signed up for this and do you know if it would cover you if you got mugged or burgled while in London as essentially you're not travelling?

I was with Endsleigh Insurance which I found good. I paid £22 a month, although that was also with mobile phone insurance which proved handy as I lost 2 phones in 2 months at one point. They replaced both no questions asked.

For travel insurance the company I'm with at the moment is Insure and Go. You can get annual insurance which covers you for trips not totaling more than about 40 days. Check out travelsupermarket.com for other options as well, but always check what you're covered for. The cheapest option isn't always the best. Oh, and you won't be covered for anything in London as long as you are living there.

I've got an HSBC Bank Account Plus, which includes permanent travel insurance as part of the monthly account fee.

mate those accounts are a huge rip-off.
£120 a year for travel insurance and no feees when getting out funds overseas???
I think I paid £40-£50 with insure & go for a years travel insurance including skiiing.

yeah im with insure and go also and pay around £50 for a years insurance including winter sports

we got annual house and contents insurance for around £200 a year (just cant remember who its through)

not paying for it still, 12 mths fee-free. yeah in hindsight maybe a bit of a rip off.

gotta get contents insurance myself...

Some of friends got burgled in Swiss Cottage last night, poor things. They pretty much got all their stuff..laptops, ipods etc and no insurance. Bastards!
