Computer parts

Anyone know of a place I can get parts that I can try out and return, for instance if I find out they aren't compatible with the components I already have? My folks PC blew up the other day. Had a funny smell for a while, then suddenly just turned off and now won't start at all. Nothing. Suspect it's the power pack, but don't have another one here to try and don't want to outright buy one in case it's not what's wrong or if the power pack blowing has fried the MB etc....

Or if anyone has one they can loan me? I'd buy you a beer!

id suspect the motherboard might be kaputt as well, if that is the case its hard to swap out. PSU is fairly straight forward and at least its an easy starting point.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too...

And funnily enough, when I had a look at it this morning it now works perfectly. Time to back up everything and wait for the inevitable I think ^_^
