Subtronix is very pleased to present the NZ debut of one of the most forward thinking production outfits working within drum and bass today. If the Cambridge, U.K., duo Commix (Guy Brewer and George
Levings) don't sound like the average junglist act, it probably has something to do with their mostly techno influences. The drum and bass act cite Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Carl Craig as some of the primary reasons they began making music. Originally formed with third member Conrad Whittle, Commix made their debut in 2003 with the single ‘Feel Something’ released by Blue Sonix's label Aquasonic. Over the years Whittle would quit the group, their techno influence would begin to show more often, and they would release more 12’s for top shelf labels like Hospital, Good Looking Records, and Doc Scott's 31 Records.

2007 saw them release their debut album 'Call To Mind' on Metalheadz, a particular honour given that it was the first album to be released on the label by an artist other than Goldie. The album featured a guest appearance from Steve Spacek and a remix from Underground Resistance. Last year Hospital released the acclaimed ‘Future Sound of Cambridge 3’ a collaborative effort with Hospital label mates Logistics and Nu:tone. They also featured heavily on Marcus Intalex’s DAT Music 2 album project on Soul:r.

In 2009 the duo is back in the spotlight once again, having just mixed the latest CD in the Fabric Live series. This will be followed up by a remix album on Metalheadz called ‘Re-Call to Mind’ featuring remixes of some of their most popular tunes by the likes of Burial and Carl Craig.
