I need a space saver for my car.

Will they fit on any car? I do realise that tyres come in different sizes... but do all wheel have four wheel prong thingees all int he same places?

does anyone understand me?

I think i got ya drift. Wheels vary in the amount of studs (4 stud or 5 stud) and also the distance in mm between those studs. For example my mazda familia has a stud pattern of 4 x 100 meaning i have 4 studs each 100mm apart. Hope that helps Smile just waiting for blades input Rolling Eyes

Most cars on the road have 4 studs, fancier or higher performance ones tend to have 5 studs.

Unfortunately they don't all have the same offset (which is the size you need to worry about).

You can enquire at dodsons http://www.dodson.co.nz/enquiry.php to see if they have a suitable wheel - they'll know what you need Smile

Most rear wheel drive cars that have 4 studs are 4 x 114

I have a peugeot 309 with no spare tyre. Wheels are about the size of my mazda but not sure if the offset the same...

Could I just try the biscuit tyre on the car and find out? our woudl I not be able to tell if it fit properly?

If you can avoid getting a 'space saver' - get a full size spare wheel. Space saver's are extremely unsafe Shocked

depending on what sort of car u have, i highly recommend getting a proper spare tyre

with ur space saver they dramatically decrease ur turning capabilities and speeds that ur car can travel hehe

but if u need a space saver, u must put it on the rear of ur car (if its fwd) to have it least likely to pop

good luck ...

pretty much this, its better to get an actual wheel and tyre if you can be bothered because its safer and gives you the piece of mind, especially if you;ve gone on holiday, space savers on the other hand are pretty much ok and long as you drive carefully under 80kmh and keep the driving to a minimun till ya fix it, dodsons should be able to help Smile easier to get someone who knows to sort u out Smile

I agree, get a full size tyre. I learnt the hardway from popping a tyre on my skyline. When I lowered it back down on the space saver the steering was shocking & doesnt feel safe to drive at all Neutral was glad to get that shocker off.

And yes there are many different fits you can get. Mine is 5 x 114.3 but with peugot it is probably going to be 4 x 100 or something close to that. Recommend you take the Peugot when getting a spare. They should be able to tell what the pattern is from one look Smile

Peugot 309 stud pattern is 4 X 108 as taken from http://www.altech.com.pl/wbt/_aferh/et_ogolne.htm

Why are space savers unsafe?

they are the baby wheels that you can only drive a wee way aren't they?

what are the dangers?

when i got my first flat tyre ever (and thought my car was broken Laughing ) we tried to put it on but the nuts didn't fit it with the wheels of the car cos they are different to what is needed with the space saver. i don't really know what to do - was very annoying!

space savers are so dodgy, first of all there not very wide so you have hardly any traction on them and more than often there alot smaller than all your other wheels.
lol I dont recommend speeding with them on either, I had a pretty close call coming back from paunui one night.

80kmh is the max speed you can safetly drive on a space saver, too little, too thin, dodgey as, especially on the front or fitted to a drive wheel.
