Meant to put that on the end of the catalyst topic. Just goes to show your, at the end of the day, theres more than one way to choke a dog than with a pound of butter, as me old dad uses to say, bobs your uncle.
While im here again tho - yeah - so - Ive always heard about this mythical gig where all h-town represent. Is it just a myth. Did it happen once? Is it gonna happen some time soon.
Hmmm - whos a ballsy enough promotor? Maybe an opportunity for some serious level collaboration and some crews doing business together. How do big things go down in big towns - with big money, or biggie massiv?
In my armchair ethnographist /econimist role, I'd say its the course of evolution in our community that is putting us in a positiion to think about these things now rather than five years ago when it was going through a lul, or in five years time where the potential market in the waikato shouldve doubled, and accessability to the SCENE is VERY saturated. Shit mate - ive been watching djs in this town try to find their place in the pecking order for over ten years now, aint too much change, just managed to keep things rolling. Yeah sure its grown a bit, but then there was a broad cross section of society at the parties back in the day you dont see down clubs now. I bet some bar owners have made a killing out of our passion.
SO!
So - yeah, we are never going to go back to any given hey day, and we cant cash in on the future just yet. What can we each bring to the table today to actualise THE VISION.
To me DJing and Electronic music culture is about DIY and Participation in something bigger than yourself. Having fun with whats there to use. If you want to truly know who you are, theres nothing like finding yourself after losing yourself on the floor of a banging party YOU helped out in some way with.
Blah blah - i got visitors
