The first group stage is over and the following teams are through:

The groups for the seond stage will be drawn soon but a few things are already certain due to the rules relating to the draw.

- Scum and Deportivo must be drawn in the same group.
- Arsenal and Roma be drawn in the same group.
- Newcastle must be drawn with one of the Milanese teams.
- Milan must be drawn with either Dortmund or Leverkusen
- Roma must be drawn with either Valencia or Bar-cel-ona *clap clap, clap clap clap*.

Predictions-
Despite clearly being the bvest team thus far Bar-cel-ona *clap clap, clap clap clap* are not particularly rated to go far. They have a relatively young team that has won every CL match thus far, and despite having an easy pool the fact remains they didn't let up and unlike everyone else they didn't fuck up. Bar-cel-ona *clap clap, clap clap clap* will win the Champions League and I won't stop talking about it for years. You heard it hear first.

Can't go past Real for the cup. Newcastle lost their first 3 games and still made it through, what a turnaround.

Yeah the fascists have a strong squad, but they only decent team in their pool was Roma and they dropped points left right and centre. Sloppy play from the fascists, qho really have no excuses not to go through 100%, or at least winning all thei non-Roma games. Although this is when teams need to start performing and we get a better idea of who's in form.

I don't think too many people rated Ajax in 94/95 at the start of the season though. But yeah the entire organisation was different then, they had the best youth system in the world, great coaching staff, and a solid gameplan.

If Arsenal can stop switching off they will probably go through. Roma could be dangerous, but Batistuta looks past it which is a real shame. Ajax are a wild card, and based on current form Valenica should comfortably finish top.

Doesn't make a difference though cause Barcelona are gonna win, if not them then AC Milan.

Some huge matches in there, Milan vs. Real stands out though as both are heavily tipped to be there at the end. Barcelona vs. Leverkusen would have been a classic last year, but given that Leverkusen dold their best players I will be extremely surprised if Barcelona leave without at least a draw, but Barcelona have been one of the few teams not willing to play for the draw so a win is on the cards. Roma vs. Arsenal is anyones guess, and Valencia should win comfortably over Ajax. Deportivo vs. Juve is the other big match, although Juve should win don't be surpirsed if the match is drawn.

Ruudboy Van Nistelrooy saves the day for Man U, no real other surprises in todays results.

Milan should have won by way more, but it's good to see the combination of Shevchenko, Rui Costa, and Rivaldo working extremely well together. Seedorf chimed into the attack well too, unlucky to have that shot cleared off the line, although the linesman showed Tapa Henning like fuckwitness and put his flag up so it wouldn't have counted.

Why can't linesman just wait a second and actually see who the ball is being played to instead of shooting their arm up the moment the ball is played. In this case Rivaldo was advancing down the centre, Shevchenko was a head of him and clearly offside but Seedorf made a run outside Shevchenko and was metres onside. Rivaldo put the ball through for Seedorf and Shevchenko stopped running to denote he wasn't involved. But the linesman threw the flag up instantly thinking th eball was for Shevchenko. I remember Newcastle being disallowed a goal against Juventus when Kieron Dyer was offside but the ball was played over him to Shearer who was miles onside and making a far post run.

I think linesmen are deaf or something, every year they are told to favour the attackers and only pull up players actively involved in play, but they still throw their flags up at everything. It's like they're trained in the same school as Northern rugby refs.

Inter prove far too strong for Newcastle, who look to be outclassed in phase 2 of the competition.

Valencia sneak a lucky last minute draw against Ajax at home.

Barcelona showed great fight to come from behind, begs the question why the hell weren't Saviola and Riquelme starting? Still the 100% record is in tact.

Henry is the best striker (more a forward but anyway) in the Premiership bar absolutely no one. Arsenal really surprised me and it's good to see them recover from their weekend loss.

Valencia may have snatched a last gasp draw but Ajax's goal wasn't far from the final whistle either, and Valencia were all over them for most of the game. 5 minutes stoppage time though? I've never seen that much before.

I don't think Newcastle belong there, Long Ball is a thing of the past, it's boring and your average centre back can deal with long balls all day with ease now.

Anyone seen that Tommy Schmit or SMith I can never tell what he's saying... But yeah that thing about becareful what you wish for (Auld Onion BAg or whatever its called) when Newcastle beat Feyenoord? Does anyone understand the point he's making? Feyenoord accused Newcastle of wasting time and the ref added on 1 minute of stoppage time... If Newcastle were the ones wasting time then surely they were the ones that would have been happy with 1 minute stoppage time, not Feyenoord.

well today the barcelona game was postponed till tommoz so i cant comment on tht, inter beat leverkusen 3-2 in a game full of drama, pity i could only get the live commentary on soccernet. Roma lost 2-1 to Ajax and Arsenal and Valencia drew 0-0, a pretty dissapointing game.
