if your cell phone gets wet...dont start it up....
break it into its bits ( batterie etc) and put it on
top of the fridge for a few days...

then it will work like nothing happened ( unless
u got it wet with saltwater....then u r fucked)

bugger, a week too late...
i drowned my phone in a puddle at the gathering, and now it's going to cost me my checkpoint charlie money to get new one Sad upgraded though Smile

this applies to anything electronic, the worst thing you can do to wet electronics is to turn them on, the electricity traveling thru the wet board will cause corrosion very very fast,. as damien said your best bet is to dry the unit for a few days first. or soak the unit in contact cleaner.

nope - doesn't work... i've drowned my phone, 1, 3, about 5 times now... each time i've tryed something new. Hot water cuboard... new battery, hairdryer...(styley huh) EVERYTHING. It doesn't work. It fizzes everything on the circut and is too costly to fix. LUFFLY INSURANCE AYE... wot would you do without it!!!

Damien - this sometimes works but not always. As soon as you open it up all warranties are voided, although liquid damage voids waranties aswell you might need it for future issues if the phone makes it through this. The best thing is get down to you local cell phone shop and see if they can open it up and give it a clean then leave it in the sun for the day. If this works then nothing will.

as long as theres no elecricity flowing when wet/damp, you'll be fine. i stick my keyboard in the dishwasher whenever it gets dirty. dry it down with a hairdryer and its fine and dandy
[quote]
if its fucked leave it to be stolen . then get a new one on insurance. but first get all your numbers out and deleted.
[quote]
mcenergy - thats the thing with liquid damage, alot of the time the whole circuit board gets fried which means you cant get any numbers out anyway.

just get insurance out on it.... vodafone has it... maybe $4 a month then.... say you lost it.

Pay the access for it .... then get a $600 phone....

Works for me..

vodafone insurance is 7.95 + GST a month.

If it is water damages that is the only thing that is worth doing to it cos evnt ho you may be lucky this time, be careful cos any water damage voids your warranty.

Stay cool til afterschool

pull the thing to pieces and into the hot water cupboard putting it on the fridge just heats it up

the hotwater cupboard is a like a drying room

um...thats "KEEP COOL TILL AFTER SCHOOL"caz...thought you'd be too young to remember mr ollie olsen.....
personally,I just amake sure i have a spare phone in the car should the need ever arise.
[quote]
Gavin_S well you'd be too old to realise that Jason Gunn took it over in the 80s when you were in high school (or retirement home whatver) and changed it to Stay cool...

*pokes tounge out*

If its off then what Damien says is true, if its on then you'll be lucky if it survives, if you're actually talking to someone then you're probably fucked.

Vodafone insurance is actually $6.95+GST per month excess of $125 maximum claim of $5000 this is for calls made while your has been stolen. If your phone is a deleted line or no longer avaiable you get the current model ie if you had a Nokia 3210 and lost it you'll get a 3310 (in a couple of months to become 3330)

The pulling the phone apart (battery etc) sometimes works (depending on the phone) Generally I've found that Alcatels recover better from dunkings than Nokias.
[quote]
Jeff ... if i was to loose a 5110 ... my old contract ph wh whould i get??? have they deleted that line yet?

Cheers

Sincerlely,

Hi there
A few months ago I accidentally dropped my friend's cellphone (Samsung Galaxy S2) in my dog"s water bowl and pulled it out in a matter of seconds. I was none the wiser and just pulled out the battery and dried what I could. The phone was working fine after that. My mate's just told me today that her phone"s not working anymore. When she took it in to get checked the technician told her it was because of water damage and the inside is all rusted and will cost her quite a bit to repair.

Before I pay for the repairs, can someone please tell me if this was my doing from a few months ago or is my mate trying to make me pay for something I didn't do?

Would appreciate some advice. Thanks
