finished any toons yet?

[quote]
Yer I got one finished (ok sounds and composure but it's a little formulamatic) what I mean is I will leave it for a while as it is, and if I learn more advanced techniques later may apply them to it again, and update it. It's missing something too, I need vocal samples to put with it.

Got a second one on the way that's sounding alright. Big shifting/raising bassline and a double kick drum beat roller going along nicely.. Just kinda lost for synth ideas... Got some interesting hi hat bizniss too..

I will do more work on the second one, and send em in wave format just for a listen/critque for you. As I need feed back, and I don't know enough advanced stuff yet with my mastering and compression. I play with EQ's and got it sounding ok, but just don't understand what the pros do to get things sounding tight..

Also.. Do you have any tips on making bass sound better.. Besides pitchbend and breath options (sticking it through Parametric EQ can take out waffle sounds in places), I am sure there must be some cool effects like reversing the sound or sum shit.. Any tips on basslines, send me an email if you feel up to it.

But more importantly how are your tunes going??? anything finished, I feel like I might put off a release until I know more and stop pushing for something this year.. Dunno though, how you feeling?

The next DnB instalment is next Friday the 13th Shocked

"The Royal Rumble"

Cosha (Ak) - Original Motion resident
Advokit (Ham) - Original Motion resident
Intrinsik (Ak) - me Very Happy

Its my understanding that this event is sponsored by Rane USA and as such we'll have a Rane Empath mixer (Best club mixer in the world) and Serato Scratch Live to play with Music

Lots more on the horizon too, some big names from out of town, so stay tuned.

Disclaimer: I'm NOT a promoter in any way shape or form so this post should not be taken as gospel, just passing on the info as I understand it Smile

Throw in Felun and you’ve very much got some of the best DnB selectors in the North Island.

It's bound to be a good one.
[quote]
It's going to be coolie dudey!

Is there going to be some promoting so people know it's on and there is a big crowd down there??
[quote]
I'm in Melbourne so I'm not the best to reply, though it looks bad leaving a birdie on the hang?

I would say however that knowing Akomplis it should be well promoted. As far as crowds go, we use to gather a big crowd back in the day, espeically when it was Motion. Since it looks like H-Town needs a DnB revival, it may take a little bit of scene building before it's packed again to be honest.

Though if the boys are feeling up to, its something they could easily accomplish in my opinion.

Apparently flyers went out for this a few weeks back so promotion has already begun.....but yeah.....nothing on Biggie and its clear to see that this definitely a medium to be utilized (not that I needed convincing).

[quote]
Crikey this thread has moved on somewhat.

It does seem that there may be a little bit of enthusiasm for a returning wave of dj's. Feluns buying tunes, intrinsik is mixing like a pro, advokit is always silky smooth and reads the floor well, etc etc.

You also have to take into account the hard work behind the scenes of peeps like Akomplis who has secured very unique sponsorship thru Rane mixers. For those of you who don't, Rane mixers have been around for along time and are backed by the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Dj Spinbad, the Linkin park dude, and a whole swag of others. They have come down in price now to be easily comparable with A+H. In fact, anyone who has used Rane will tell you how good they are.

check www.rane.com for details on their line of mixers.

What this means for you peeps in hammy is that your club is he only club in NZ (to my knowledge) that is sponsored like this. Its a big deal people, so stand up and be counted.

Also on the nite of the 13th, I understand Audio Telex of Auckland will be upgrading the rig to include Turbo stack speakers and Lab Grubben (oooaahh) amps. Its big stuff, and I think you should all attend just so you can witness what real drum and bass sounds like thru a real system.

Of course, the selectors on the nite will be doing there stuff thru the amazing Rane Empath mixer....see http://www.rane.com/empath.html

Also, I believe Akomplis is the Hamilton agent for Rane and can offer unbeatable deals on Rane Products and also Serato Scratch Live....

Go and see him and while ya there throw out your Pioneer and Allen and Heath Catalogues....Yuk!!!

Have a cool day peeps Music

Well hell! What a great night!

The rig sounded farken great, big thanks to Audio Telex and Rane for the gear and all the time, effort and organisation that went into bringing it down and setting it up.

Was wicked jamming with the old skool crew, some damn nice choons got thrown to the floor, i managed a multiple floorgasm over that huge grindy anthem Cosha pulled the first rewind on *dribble*

Great seeing a lot of the old skool faces out too, great atmosphere, many commented that it was very reminiscent of the old days, great sets, phat tunes, the DJ's working very well together, varied styles that provided diversity for the punters yet laid down in such a way that complimented the other. Everyone i spoke to later on Sat said they had wicked night, some (that don't get into DnB) came in support and walked away with a new perspective on/respect for the genre when its done right....so mad props to the boys Music

More to come from these guys, and along with out of town talent......I see great things ahead.

I still say the Quadrophinic set up catalyst had was the best ive heard it.

Advokit was the DJ of the Night for me.

Wasnt feeling the Back to Back in the begining stages,....bit up & down.

Apart from those minamal personal prefrence's, a top night well worth $5.
