whose paying for it? I guess if it's a religious city then that's what makes the people happy... but.... I doubt that is the reality. Which makes this a bit like America.

... aren't there still homeless people?
[quote]
sure why not

as long as the god botherers don't expect the state to pay for it

we've sports feilds to fix

Great idea but yeah, silly money. They can have the slug from Queens Wharf after RWC, since it becomes a massive white elephant competing against other permannt council-owned structures like the brand new viaduct events centre.
[quote]
I think the slug is already destined down that way as a temp entertainment venue - ie for all not just the faith based
[quote]
Nah the cloud is established at QW for 36 months (they just signed a contract with me for that long)

The temporary structure is awesome, $4m is a tiny amount. Typical kiwis.

it may be a tiny amount in the grand scheme but its a nice to have... for a few

It's a very nice to have for an entire community close to slitting their wrists. I find it so amusing how you're all for arts and humanities Bob, unless it doesn't impact you in the slightest at which point fuck 'em, it's too much money.

Do you know the economic impact of a NZer dying...? It's actually $4m. Freaky!

Much needed too - especially with the ongoing growth of the industry and NZ as a cruise destination.

Don't forget Pita Sharples giant tax-payer funded bribe to the Ngati Whatua, the tuppawaka! It is only going to be open for eleven days, so we could send it to Christchurch practically brand new, and all those bi-cultural loving lesbian vicars in the Anglican church will just love it.

Actually fish boy, don't believe everything you read in the herald. http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/newsdetail1.asp?storyid=201506

I don't consider a temporary church arts or humanities - or have our wires crossed?

I was actually all for the slug or whatever it is to be shipped down there as a temp structure for the arts & community to use... as I thought was the plan

as for you impact on myself comment - sorry but thats you looking in the mirror, not me at all

I actually do care
