Car idles roughly and sometimes stalls

Hi guys,

Just wondering if I can tap into your expertise on why my car idles roughly and sometimes stalls.

Had it into a couple of different places to fix the problem, and pretty much every time it fixes it temporarily but comes back in a couple of weeks.

The main ones include changing the spark plugs, which worked for a while but problem came back. I then found there was oil leaking into the spark plug chamber so had that fixed and they replaced the spark plug leads.

Any other suggestions on what may be causing the problem? Does it look like the kind of thing that a comprehensive service could fix?

what sort of car with what engine?

depending on how modern it is, plugs and leads you've covered, other candidates are coil packs, idle air control valve (common on nissans), mass airflow sensor. hell if it's an auto, there could be electronic issues there too, messing with the idle.

It's a 96 ford laser, 1.6l, fuel injected dohc in manual.

Hmm okay. I'll have to look into some of your suggestions.
