Cant open notepad

I have windows XP

Upgraded motherboard, so fresh installation.
Everything seems to be fine.

But when i doubleclick a notepad associated file, it doesnt open it, it doesnt do anything.

I have check to see if notepad is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\

It is present, and by double clicking it, it opens properly.


Any suggestions ? Can i reinstall notepad somehow ?

try telling it to open with then select notepad and tick always open with...

I click it, and its like it loads, but its invisible ( ie, the hard drive something )

anyway there are plenty of better text editors around which you could install??

this is true, i guess ill just associate all files that require notepad to use wordpad or.....

they fixed theirs by renaming notepad to notepad.exe.
