Okay . Biggie ..

There will be plenty of opportunity for you to read the promotional copy so I'm going to save to much of the blag and give you some of the facts straight up to let you know what is going on for this years event.

If you want to know what last years Festival was like just ask around. The consensus seems to be that it was a pretty good party.

Canaan Downs Festival
http://www.canaandowns.com

31st Dec - 1st Jan

Two night only this year, with options to come up and camp early and stay for a day afterwards.

This year is going to be a positive development of the same event. If you loved it last time, your going to love it again. If you are hearing good things, expect more good things.

The word we are using to describe the Festival is 'boutique'.

The tag for this years event is 'Rock to Rave'.

The opening line up announcements will be made on the 15th of August. Tickets will also be on sale from the 15th for $99+bf from Cosmic Corners stores.

The line up is going to feature %97 NZ artists. We are working with a selective group of artists to develop the overall show. The goal is to create a main stage that will provide a fluent musical journey and dynamic space for memorable performances.

The Festival is still alcohol free with a family friendly attitude. This is a stand out feature among the choices for New Years events and is an active decision by the Festival to create that unique vibe.

We are targeting to be a Zero Waste event. A little ambitious but not impossible. So in-line with the Festival promotion will be information on how to attend out door events and minimise your waste.

There is a large focus on production at Canaan Downs.

The Festival management team are made up of people who designed, ran and managed events like the Gathering, Destinations, Alpine Unity, Visions and (ChCh) Unity.

People will know that all these events are often remembered for their dramatic production as much as the music and the party.

The concept for this year is to develop the story, to develop the journey that is Canaan Downs.

In the big picture we are thinking ahead to events leading up to 2012, the end of the Mayan calendar.

..

So there are some of the starting facts. More details will follow in the usual course.

However it should be noted that every event that has ever happened at Canaan Downs has left its mark on peoples minds. If you have been you know what I am talking about, if you haven't been this will be a great year to get on the ride!

I'm personally looking forward to one of the best parties at Canaan Downs ever.

Spread the word, etc etc.

Cheers

Someone asked me if the TV3 spot was a fake? You may never know with Canaan Downs Festival .. but this time it was a real spot on nightline - which came off rather well - thankfully.

If you missed it or don't believe me .. check it here :

So yea spread the word. Headlining Canaan Downs Festival is New Zealand icon and poet Sam Hunt. Sam will perform on the afternoon of January 1st. We are proud to host such a magic Kiwi at the Festival.

We are also excited to announce the Little Bushmen. We will be working to set the vibe for a incredible performance from the Bushmen. There is one more headline NZ rock act to follow shortly ... so stand by.

On the dance front, we have announced Antix and Tom Cosm. These two acts will top and tail an incredible 12hr line up of NZ electronic producers.

The focus this year is on Live production and Canaan Downs has managed to pull together a deep pool of local talent that has been brewing in the underground of NZ music.

We see Canaan Downs Festival as a boutique event. This year we are running a line from 'Rock to Rave' and back. Pushing for a line up that represents the deep culture of Aotearoa.

Tickets are on sale now - $99+bf - best deal on the scene.

Get into your local Cosmic Corner now to secure your place at Canaan Downs for New Years.

http://canaandownsfestival.wordpress.com/2008/11/11/other-zone-line-ups/

If you made a submission and your name is not on the line up and you have not been contacted by the Festival or a zone coordinator then it is likely your submission has not been accepted.

Thanks for you patients.

Also . Ticket prices change after this Friday 14th Nov from $139+bf to $159+bf .. get your tickets now and save some cash for Christmas.

Word on the street seems to be very positive. The cross genre format with true outdoor electronic roots seems to be picking up the vibe.

Personally I think the line ups show a remarkable wide range of talent in NZ. With a the shift from Dj's to producers beginning to show its hand.

Interestingly the .3rd Resistance has managed to attract some interest from Germany. The rumour is that there are a bunch of German Dj's heading in country to check it out.

Anyway .. I hope a few biggie cats come and check out the Festival. Its lined up to be a wicked show for the true music lover.

Peace
