Burning AVI/MPEG files to DVD

Hey ive got some AVI's and MPEGs which I have already burned to VCD or SVCD. Will these work if I put them on a DVD ? I shouldn't need to get any additional software right ?

modded xbox will play them

My DVD player works with VCD's and SVCDs so hopefully it will be ok. It's just blanks ar still quite expensive so i don't wanna go wasting 'em : )

Why are you putting them on DVD media? Are they too big for a CD?

I have tv episodes that a mate has burned to DVD from mpegs. ABout 10 ~450MB mpegs on each DVD.

PFunk, no I just want to be able to fit more files in. Also because not all of my mates have VCD compatible players.

If you are wantin them in DVD format...forget about it... it's a real misson and takes ages to do, and you need more software.

might be ok if they are already mpeg's I tried to do an avi and it took 6 hrs just to convert it to mpeg2 then i couldn't get the sound to convert properly.

get a p4 3.2 ht and gig of ram it wont take too long
